As the Senior Designer – Men’s Hike, you design innovative and expressive apparel solutions that are aligned with the Arc’teryx design vision and you, continuously exceed our guests’ evolving needs. This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-site. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were the Senior Designer – Men’s Hike now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Creating innovative apparel to address the needs of our athletes and guests
  • Creating expression in key concepts through silhouette and fit grounded in function
  • Providing solution that expand beyond original intent to provide style
  • Partnering with our developers to drive the research and development of innovative technologies including yarns and materials, as well as fit, pattern and construction techniques for all product categories
  • Supporting Inline Innovation projects through developing unique and resolved approaches to product solutions, patterning and prototyping
  • Building partial or complete concept prototypes to allow for solutions to be reviewed, tested and validated
  • Collecting insights through observing, product testing, research and working closely with athletes/end users
  • Collaborating closely with other Designers to bring new concepts to the range
  • Maintaining continuous awareness of industry trends and collaborating with Arc’teryx athletes and other industry representatives, enabling Arc’teryx to exceed our guests’ evolving needs
  • Presenting at internal meetings, design reviews and seasonal stage gates, annual seasonal handoffs and other product meetings
  • Attending tradeshows, visiting sourcing and development vendors as required (likely quarterly)

Are you our next Senior Designer – Men’s Hike?

  • You have a Degree in Design (Apparel, Industrial or Textile Engineering), with 8+ years’ hands-on experience designing functional apparel and 1+ year experience coaching or leading a team
  • You have advanced knowledge, skill and ability in mentoring others on the design process, including patterning, sewing, and garment construction
  • You have advanced technical and creative skills to pattern and prototype new products
  • You are an excellent team player with the ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision
  • You have hands-on experience creating tools and construction methods to assist in solving construction issues
  • You have excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • You are technically proficient with 8 years’ experience using Adobe Illustrator, Gerber or an equivalent pattern software
  • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
  • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
  • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
  • You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
  • Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it
  • You have a strong knowledge of Arc’teryx products and interest/involvement in activities Arc’teryx makes products for

Compensation:

    The salary range for this role is CAD$108,000 - CAD$142,000

Skills Required
