What you’ll do

As a Senior User Experience Designer, you will be essential in developing user-centered experiences for both in-vehicle systems and mobile applications. This role requires a profound understanding of user needs and behaviors, allowing you to create innovative and functional designs that enhance usability. You will collaborate with a variety of cross-functional teams (ex. software and engineering) to ensure that your designs align with our brand's mission while improving user interaction with our products. Your expertise in balancing aesthetics with functionality will be key to delivering seamless and engaging user experiences.

  • Lead the translation of the SCOUT brand promise and strategy into innovative user-centered design solutions for in-vehicle and mobile app interfaces. 
  • Mentor junior designers in developing user flows, user stories, wireframes, and visual elements that reinforce the SCOUT brand voice across various digital touchpoints. 
  • Oversee the integration of our core mental model, user journey’s, information architecture, interaction patterns to create intuitive and functional experience that enhances user satisfaction and engagement. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help mold and define features and evolve a cohesive user experience strategy across multiple product touchpoints, ensuring alignment with business goals and brand objectives. 
  • Champion the maintenance and advancement of a design system that promotes consistency, usability, and accessibility across devices. 
  • Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional team members to ensure accurate implementation of user experience specifications/requirements throughout the development lifecycle. 
  • Manage multiple high-impact design projects, effectively prioritizing tasks, mentoring team members, and communicating progress to stakeholders and leadership.

  • Drive the efficient execution of complex user experience projects, demonstrating leadership in balancing speed and quality while navigating the challenges of a fast-paced industry environment. 
  • Emphasize teamwork, regularly collaborating with team members and sharing insights to enhance design outcomes. 
  • Efficiently deliver design projects, demonstrating both speed and quality in a fast-paced industry environment. 

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Fremont, California or Remote, United States. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.
  • The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events occasionally. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
  • Travel: Up to 10% of the time

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience as a user experience designer, with a significant emphasis on automotive applications. 
  • Demonstrated experience in crafting user experiences that are production-ready, specifically for automotive systems such as instrument clusters, head units, and other in-vehicle controls. 
  • A portfolio that showcases exceptional skills in automotive user experience design, with a strong emphasis on user-centered design principles, interaction design, and feature implementation. 
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with industry-standard design tools such as Figma and Adobe Suite, with a focus on creating comprehensive user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity clickable prototypes. 
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and implementing user experience projects from concept through to production, ensuring adherence to technical and industry-specific standards. 
  • Strong mentorship skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, along with the ability to advocate for user needs throughout the design process. 
  • Availability to travel up to 10% of the time for collaboration, research, and project implementation.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, proficient in articulating design concepts, advocating for user needs, and effectively justifying design decisions to diverse stakeholders.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $165,000-$180,000

Internal leveling code: IC8
