Senior Design Engineering Manager

The Design Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end engineering and product development process from concept to production. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for cycling. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with many cross-functional teams, including design, R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance. They will be expected to coach, mentor, and grow a dynamic team of engineers to ensure the successful development and launch of exceptional and groundbreaking bikes.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Lead the engineering and product development efforts for the engineering team in Taiwan.

  • In conjunction with leadership, partner to develop vision and strategy for the team to drive innovation and on-time quality execution.

  • Responsible for thorough technical review of all Engineering work performed by your direct reports. This will include an in-depth review of their work as well as participating in technical reviews to ensure high quality work is delivered.

  • Oversee the professional growth and performance of the engineering team.

  • Collaborate closely with the design team to translate design concepts into manufacturable and high-quality products.

  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, including conceptualization, prototyping, testing, and final production.

  • Drive the adoption of best practices and processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and innovation throughout the engineering and product development stages.

  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure seamless transition from product design to production, optimizing manufacturing processes and resolving any technical challenges.

  • Manage project scopes, goals, and deliverables, developing and maintaining detailed project plans, budgets, and timelines.

  • Work with Project Management team to closely monitor and track project progress, identifying and mitigating any risks or obstacles to ensure on-time delivery of superior products.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and market demands to drive continuous product innovation and maintain a competitive edge.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence within the engineering and product development teams.

  • Collaborate with senior management to align engineering and product development strategies with the company's overall goals and objectives.

WHAT YOU NEED TO WIN

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and product development roles, preferably within the bicycle or sporting goods industry.

  • 5+ years in an engineering leadership/managerial role.

  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

  •  Functional expert in mechanical engineering, strong background in materials science, or related disciplines, deep understanding of bicycle design principles and manufacturing processes.

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, simulation tools, and other engineering software used in product development.

  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to create project plans, manage budgets, and track progress effectively.

  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving innovative solutions and resolving complex engineering challenges.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and communication across various teams and stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality, ensuring that products meet or exceed industry standards.

  • Passion for bicycles and the cycling industry, with a deep understanding of market trends and customer preferences.
