Summary
The Senior Project Engineer I – Control Panels is responsible for control cabinet design tasks, Making and or Coordinating Changes internally or with vendors (Vendor Liaison), and Project Management tasks. The Sr. Project Engineer I will be responsible for qualifying vendors and assisting startup of new projects making sure the vendors are capable and have the right equipment and systems to manufacture, perform end-of-line testing and ensuring appropriate packaging equipment. This position is an individual contributor role and does not include formal people management responsibilities.
Please note, the title upon hire for this role is Senior Design Engineer I.
Responsibilities
- Project Management for new and change projects both Internal and with Suppliers
- Manage complex process, quality, supplier, manufacturing, and component problems
- Analyze pricing issues, suggest ways to reduce costs
- Control panel design (component selection, enclosure selection, environmental and thermal analysis, power, I/O wiring, and adherence to regulatory standards).
- Designs and documents enclosure modifications and custom mechanical components.
- Creates quotations for control panels, including labor estimation.
- Specifies packaging to eliminate shipping damage.
- Performs product changes (drawing, product, BOM changes).
- Creates and modifies manufacturing, packaging, marking, and component drawings.
- Completes article, BOM, component setup and maintenance in PDM / PLM System
- Coordinates design reviews between planning, manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers
- Follows all corporate processes / procedures in an ISO 9001 environment.
- Leads or is a member of project teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5 Years of Experience in Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
- 3 Years of Project Management
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Must be knowledgeable and comfortable performing Electrical and Mechanical Engineering tasks, working with vendors.
- 2D and 3D CAD experience required
- Experience with UL508A Very Helpful.
- EPLAN or AutoCAD electrical experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Word and Excel).

Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to ride in a car for 6 hours at a time.
- Must be able to travel by air.
- Must be able to communicate in English (written & verbal).
- Must be eligible to receive US passport.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- This is a hybrid position unless otherwise specified requiring 3 days in the office.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
- 7+ years experience in application engineering, industrial automation networking, or network engineering
- Advanced knowledge of Industrial Ethernet
- Expertise in network architecture, network audits, and network/security design
- Working knowledge of IEC/ISA 62443 standard
- Willingness to travel up to 30% (including overnight and air travel)
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate an automobile for extended periods
- Ability to obtain a passport and travel overseas
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Certifications such as CCIE, CCNA, CCNP, GSEC, GICSP, GRID, CISSP, Network+, Security+, or ISA
- Understanding of IEC 61850 and concept of digital substations
- Experience in the Electric Power Industry
