Job Summary: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of chassis and vehicle components using advanced manufacturing techniques such as casting, forging, and machining. 

Job Responsibilities : 
  • Design and develop innovative chassis and vehicle components using casting, forging, and machined parts, leveraging advanced materials and manufacturing techniques
  • Create 3D models and engineering drawings for new products using CAD software (NX)
  • Perform engineering calculations to ensure product performance, safety, and reliability, utilizing simulation data and data analytics
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and testing, to ensure successful product launches and seamless integration with our Industry 4.0 ecosystem
  • Manage product rollouts, including production planning, testing, and validation, leveraging our agile development methodologies
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, engineering drawings, and test reports, utilizing our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, Teamcenter
  • Analyze and resolve design and manufacturing issues, implementing improvements to increase efficiency and productivity, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure component quality and delivery, leveraging supplier partnerships and collaborative development processes.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and designers, mentoring and training as needed


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on product development and design, preferably in electric vehicle or automotive industry
  • Strong expertise in 3D modelling, engineering calculations, and product development, with a passion for innovation and sustainability
  • Proficient in NX CAD software and familiar with CAE tools (e.g., ANSYS, Nastran)
  • Experience with casting, forging, and machined parts, including material selection and manufacturing processes, with a focus on lightweight and sustainable materials
  • Strong understanding of vehicle chassis and component design principles, with a focus on electric vehicle architecture and integration
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to analyze complex problems, leveraging data analytics.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of drafting standards, including ANSI Y14.5
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Summary (DFSS)

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodology
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and six sigma methodologies
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and executing product development projects, with a focus on production rollouts and manufacturing integration
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and testing, to ensure successful product launches
  • Hands-on experience with Wheels and Steering sub-system design and development


Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • 5–7 years of mechanical engineering experience focused on product development and design
  • Experience in electric vehicle or automotive product development
  • Strong expertise in 3D modeling, engineering calculations, and product development
  • Proficiency with NX CAD software
  • Familiarity with CAE tools such as ANSYS or Nastran
  • Experience with casting, forging, and machined parts, including material selection and manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of vehicle chassis and component design principles, including electric vehicle architecture and integration
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly principles
  • Experience with DFMEA and DFSS
  • Knowledge of APQP methodology
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience managing product development projects, production rollouts, and manufacturing integration
  • Experience designing and developing wheels and steering subsystems
