About the role:
Senior Design Engineer is responsible for researching, developing, testing, and troubleshooting. This may include mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components and systems, applied using engineering principles and techniques. The Senior Design Engineer, Mechanical, designs piece parts and sub-assembly parts using CREO or equivalent solid modeling software. In addition, creates and checks Engineering orders, BOMs, drawings, and technical documentation (Technical Reports, DRBFMs, etc.) to release new product designs. Finally, this position provides technical support to manufacturing and other areas of the organization.
What you will do:
- Mechanical/hydraulic components and system design
- Reviewing and analyzing design requirements. Designing the parts, creating a 3-D part model, checking for interference, creating and checking drawings
- Work with vendors on the design, verify function, create a test plan for the prototypes, review and analyze test data from in-house and field testing
- Perform FEA to analyze the part design
- Technical documentation
- Writing technical reports and specifications, DRBFM, Trial Order EO, BOM change EO, drawing change EO, modification order, BOCS BOM. Reviewing and providing feedback on OMM and service parts
- Prototype and Testing
- Tracking problems and developing countermeasures for the problem log. Providing hands-on support for testing activity
- Troubleshooting and development of solutions for problems discovered in testing
- NPP Introduction
- Facilitate new product program introductions to production status. Includes working with manufacturing and fabrication, drafting/checking BOM's, engineering orders, and drawings (components, systems, and kits)
- Hands-on support of initial production builds and solution of initial production problems
- Project communication
- Weekly update project status, provide answers on the design to purchasing and suppliers
- Communicate on technical design issues and test results
- Design review
- Creating presentations for others to understand the CAD images, diagrams, and schematics
When & Where:
- Hybrid Work Schedule: in the office 3 days a week
- May need to be flexible depending on project timelines
- Manufacturing environment
- Combination of: Office, manufacturing floor, and field-testing environments
- May involve: Exposure to industrial equipment, PPE requirements, and occasional travel between 5-10% (customer sites, testing facilities)
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar related field
- 7+ years’ relevant experience in an engineering design role
- Practical/Functional mechanical engineering knowledge
- CREO or equivalent 3D CAD modeling experience
- Hydraulic aptitude to troubleshoot the hydraulic system
- Finite Element analysis knowledge
- Computer skills: MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
What would be nice to have:
- Working knowledge of ASME, CEN, and UL standards
- Experience in the forklift industry
- Hands-on experience with design, prototype build, testing, costing, and production release
- Perform FEA using Mechanical or equivalent software

The salary for this position ranges from $95,000 to $126,000 annually. The specific salary for a successful candidate will depend upon, among other legitimate factors, education, training, and/or experience.
