Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer Cleanroom for Semiconductor and Battery fabrication facilities. The ideal candidate will have cleanroom design, engineering and qualification experience for semiconductor projects.  This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving innovative solutions for process efficiency and cost optimization.

Responsibilities:

Process Design & Optimization:

  • Conceptual design, planning and project engineering of cleanrooms and dry rooms
  • Development of layouts for Semiconductor facilities with integration of Tools Layout and supporting infrastructure in the layouts
  • Support development of overall facility design, interior layouts and master planning to address
    • Cleanroom zoning
    • Gowning
    • Tool move-in
    • AMHS
    • Project phasing
  • Coordination with process utilities, base-build utilities, architecture and structural design.
  • Preparation of tender drawings and functional specifications.
  • Participation in award negotiations with suppliers and contractors.
  • Review and approve contractor Submittals.
  • Support during Construction for cleanroom protocol, Installation and certification.

Equipment & Technology Integration:

  • Knowledge on man, material & waste flow concepts along with area classification and HVAC Zoning.
  • Knowledge of functions and dimensions of various semiconductor process equipment used in facilities.
  • Collaborate with vendors for equipment selection, installation, and validation.

Compliance & Standards:

  • Ensure adherence to industry regulations SEMI, ISO, OSHA, EPA, NFPA etc.
  • Knowledge of applicable International standards and local country standards.
  • Work with regulatory bodies and internal teams to meet safety and environmental requirements.

Collaboration & Coordination:

  • Participation in award negotiations with suppliers and contractors.
  • Support process/ utilities/ construction interfaces.
  • Work closely with architects, MEP engineers, and facility planners for efficient utility layout designs.
  • Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to align process requirements with project goals.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support training initiatives.
  • Support Business Development and proposal activities.

Project Documentation:

  • Preparing presentation material that helps stake holders in strategic decision making and subsequently engineering concepts.
  • Prepare and update: Design Basis Report for Cleanrooms and Coordinated Design & Engineering deliverables as per project engineering deliverables schedule.
  • Monitor work progress and ensure compliance with the project quality requirements and schedule.

Qualifications

Experience & Qualification:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in semiconductor cleanroom design and process engineering
  • Strong understanding of the semiconductor manufacturing processes (lithography, etching, deposition, CMP, metrology, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of utility design for the semiconductor FABs.
  • Experience with CFD, Energy modeling and simulation tools.
  • Proficiency in software tools like AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and IES-VE.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in greenfield and brownfield FAB design.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices in semiconductor manufacturing.
