We are seeking a Senior DB2 Database Administrator with strong expertise in DB2 LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows) to support standard banking applications and participate in DB2 database migration projects to AWS. This role is strictly DB2 LUW (Linux / Unix / Windows). Mainframe DB2 (z/OS / DB2 Central) experience is not applicable to this position.
This is a hands‑on operational role, requiring strong DB2 expertise, solid incident support experience, and the ability to work directly with application owners and project managers during Montreal business hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and support DB2 LUW databases across production and pre‑production environments
- Provide database support during incidents (major and normal)
- Execute ad‑hoc SQL queries and data corrections when required
- Perform database refresh, restore, and backup operations
- Manage DB2 users, roles, and access
- Maintain and troubleshoot stored procedures
- Support database deployments and structural changes (tables, indexes, partitions)
- Assist application teams on DB‑related topics during projects and releases
- Participate in DB2 LUW database migration activities to AWS
- Work closely with:
- Application Owners
- Project Managers
- Application Support teams
- External partners
In Scope:
- DB2 database administration and support
- Application‑level database operations
- Incident management and deployments
- AWS migration support for DB2 databases
Out of Scope:
- DB2 z/OS (Mainframe)
- Infrastructure, OS, or cloud platform administration
Qualifications:
- 5-7+ years of experience as a DBA with DB2 LUW (Linux / Unix / Windows)
- Solid experience in:
- DB2 LUW administration in production environments
- Backup and recovery
- Performance troubleshooting
- SQL scripting and utilities
- Experience supporting multiple applications simultaneously
- Clear understanding of non‑mainframe DB2 architecture
- Practical experience with DB2 LUW database migration to AWS
- AWS Certification required:
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (minimum), or
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty (preferred)
- Good/Advanced English (spoken and written)
- Comfortable working directly with international stakeholders
- Strong incident and support mindset
- Able to work independently during night hours: 7:00 PM – 4:00 AM or 8:00 PM – 5:00 AM (BKK)
