Job Title: Senior Database Reliability Engineer

Locations: Remote – PST Time Zone

What You Will Get To Do:

This position will play a vital role in ensuring our containerization initiatives succeed, supporting both MongoDB and PostgreSQL deployments. The ideal candidate will have experience in containerized MongoDB deployment under Kubernetes and Docker, with substantial experience in automating reliable deployments, building and maintaining resilience within the database platform, secure database operations methodologies, observability and performance management. We are also exploring other NoSQL database engines to support our production strength applications, so experience with diverse database systems is a plus.

• Ensure that the production and lower environments are deployed, configured, maintained and monitored for reliability and resilience.
• Ensure the environments are fully performant in support of the application
• Implement industry best practices for database performance, security, backup, disaster recovery and secure data removal/transfer.
• Maintain vendor relationships in support of the environments 
• Provide technical leadership and an escalation point for the team of junior engineers 
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines specific to database operations, with an emphasis on automation and scalability.
• Collaborate with private cloud, DevOps and development teams in all aspects of deployment and maintenance
• Mentor junior engineers and act as a technical advisor to cross-functional teams.

What You Will Bring:

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with MongoDB in an enterprise environment.
• Expertise with cloud-based database services.
• Proficiency in other databases like PostgreSQL and a willingness to work with additional NoSQL database engines.
• Expertise with Kubernetes and Docker for containerized applications.
• Advanced skills in scripting and automation using Bash and Python.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins for database operations.
• Experience with performance tuning, optimization, and scalability of databases.
• Strong understanding of database observability, security, backups, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment and influence cross-functional teams.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Knowledge of SQL Server.
• Strong understanding of distributed database architecture.
