Job Description

Join our DevOps Engineering team as a Senior Database Engineer responsible for designing, optimizing, and automating cloud database solutions across AWS RDS, Postgres, and Snowflake. This role focuses on performance engineering, data integration, and automation -- ensuring our data platforms are scalable, reliable, and efficient. You’ll work closely with DevOps and Product Engineering to build high-performing data infrastructure that supports critical applications and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Engineering & Optimization

  • Design, build, and optimize database solutions using Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and Oracle RDS.
  • Engineer efficient data models, ETL/ELT pipelines, and query performance tuning for analytical and transactional workloads.
  • Implement replication, partitioning, and data lifecycle management to enhance scalability and resilience.
  • Manage schema evolution, data versioning, and change management in multienvironment deployments.

Automation & Infrastructure

  • Build and manage database infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • Automate deployment, configuration, and performance monitoring of data environments.
  • Integrate database workflows with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation frameworks.
  • Develop scripts and utilities in Python and other relevant languages for operational efficiency and consistency.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement data governance, encryption, and role-based access controls across Snowflake and RDS platforms.
  • Partner with Security and DevOps teams to ensure audit readiness, compliance, and data protection.
  • Partner with Security, DevOps, and compliance teams to maintain audit readiness and data integrity.

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with Product Engineering and Analytics teams to deliver performant, reliable data solutions.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to documentation, automation standards, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in database engineering or development across production environments.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Snowflake (design, optimization, security, and performance tuning).
  • Strong expertise with AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, and Oracle databases.
  • Deep knowledge of SQL, query optimization, and data modeling for performance and scalability.
  • Experience with Terraform and cloud automation practices.
  • Proficiency with Python and other scripting languages for automation and tooling.
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks, data pipeline orchestration, and integration best practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
