About the Job: As s Senior Database Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, integrity, and security of our databases that meet the technological needs of our organization. Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to managing and optimizing our database systems.


About the Role:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

o Design, implement, and maintain high-performance database systems that align with business objectives and technical constraints.

o Ensure the integrity, availability, and security of databases through regular monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

o Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and ensure efficient data access.

o Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard sensitive data.

o Stay current on industry regulations and standards, ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy laws.

o Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.

o Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery procedures to validate system reliability.

o Identify and address performance bottlenecks, working proactively to optimize database systems.

o Analyze and interpret performance metrics to make recommendations for improvements.

o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing technical expertise and support.

o Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to database design and configuration, manuals, technical guides, and operational procedures.

o Balance long-term thinking with rapidly delivering solutions to improve our system’s stability.


About You:

o Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field

o Minimum of 7 years of related work experience with data platforms.

o Proficiency in a wide variety of database technologies (MySQL, Vertica, Cassandra, Redis).

o Knowledge in TiDB is a huge plus.

o Experience with cloud-based database platforms (RDS, Aurora, Keyspaces, CloudSQL, BigTable).

o Experience with automation tools like Ansible and Puppet.

o Experience in database design, implementation, and maintenance.

o Strong understanding of database security principles.

o Solid knowledge of backup and recovery processes.

o Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

o Solid communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and in a cross-functional team environment.
