The Role

The Wells Fargo Consumer Technology (CT) Head of Data has been tasked with transforming and modernizing operational and analytic data across Consumer Technologies.  The mission for CT Data is to implement best in class engineered technologies and best practices that are Agile-minded, commercially structured, compliance-oriented, and focused on the rapid delivery of high-quality, safe products and services which are consumable at scale across consumer lines of business.

The Senior Database Engineer – Data & Analytics role will report to an Engineering or Analytics Manager.  The role will be responsible for providing technical expertise for the data engineering team, solution design for medium to complex data products, hands-on development of reusable frameworks, performing design and code reviews, driving and accelerating Data and Analytics Strategy & Roadmap across Consumer Technology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead or participate in database management activities including designing highly complex logical and physical databases
  • Lead highly complex data modeling, mapping, integration, and capacity planning efforts
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring analytical application of industry techniques, advance data from multiple sources, and mathematics behind data analysis across the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale, and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical, and coordination of highly complex activities
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
  • Collaborate with Business Partners and application SMEs to align project objectives and manage expectations during development, manage JIRA Backlog, and identify and mitigate risk
  • Partner with Enterprise Data Services organization on Enterprise Data Strategy
  • Ensure Data-related design patterns, best practices are front and center of technology practices in the organization.
  • Advanced experience in Big Data and Cloud technologies
  • Advanced experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics capabilities like Tableau, Power BI, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, etc.
  • Advanced level expertise in building high performance data and analytical products
  • Ability to conduct technical training sessions for technical and line of business users

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 4+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of technical leadership or architecture experience, in a data and technical environment
  • 3+ years of experience leading in the Data Engineering, Data Management, SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, MongoDB, ETL, SAS, Tableau
  • 3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence Tools SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Tableau or Power BI
  • 3+ years of experience in Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kafka, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience in designing, building and managing large-scale data solutions in a Public, Private, or Hybrid cloud environment
  • 3+ years of Financial Services, Merchant Services, or Credit Card industry experience
  • 3+ years of experience with Data Engineering, Application Support and/or Technology Operations
  • 2+ years of experience in C# and VB.NET programing

Desired Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics or relevant field
  • Expertise in Autosys and CICD pipeline
  • Experience with Agile practices including Jira backlog management
  • Experience with Data architecture, design, and management
  • Experience in SQL Server migration
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet aggressive deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic, fast paced, and complex environment
  • Strong ability to document projects and processes to ensure clear understanding and replicability

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule
