About the job

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist who will work with a team of expert Data Analysts/Scientists/Engineers and a team of expert and dedicated developers. The key focus of this role is yield optimization, using data science to improve yield, consistency, forecast accuracy, and explainability.

There is significant potential for the right person to make a real difference in this area and work directly with both Commercial and Data Science leaders!

Job Goals

  • Optimize existing yield and matching models to improve their consistency, performance and forecasting accuracy.
  • Analyze historical trading data to identify patterns and opportunities for enhanced consistency and efficiency.
  • Develop actionable strategies based on statistical analyses and insights from historical datasets.
  • Show how the current trading performance can be enhanced with use of more granular data, more graduated levers, and how simple, low risk decisions can be automated.
  • Collaborate with developers and commercial leaders to integrate data-driven improvements in decisioning into operational workflows.
  • Present technical findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable understanding.
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of data science projects, from hypothesis generation to production deployment and ongoing continuous improvement.
  • Drive innovation within yield optimization in 24x7x365 production by applying advanced statistical techniques and programming expertise.
  • Assist Commercial stakeholders in scenario planning and forecasting

Ideal Skills & Capabilities

  • Deep expertise in data science technologies, including statistical programming languages (Python, R), advanced statistical techniques, and data manipulation tools.
  • Proven experience in yield or pricing optimization within large online marketplaces, such as research, insurance, online travel, programmatic media, or similar industries.
  • Understanding of forecasting and optimisation techniques in discrete choice environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on agile and iterative product development, enabling innovative solutions to complex data challenges.
  • Knowledge of web services and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Redshift, Azure) for scalable data operation and integration.
  • Ability to translate complex statistical findings into actionable strategies, leveraging tools like PowerBI and SQL for impactful presentations to cross-functional teams.

Skills Required

  • Deep expertise in statistical programming languages (Python, R)
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and analysis
  • Experience with PowerBI or similar data visualization tools
  • Proven experience in yield or pricing optimization in large online marketplaces
  • Understanding of forecasting and optimization techniques in discrete choice environments
  • Experience with machine learning, predictive modeling, feature engineering, and A/B testing
  • Experience deploying models to production and managing end-to-end data science lifecycle
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and data services (AWS, Redshift, Azure)
  • Strong problem-solving, stakeholder communication, and ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences
