The Role

At ABB, we help industries outrun - leaner and cleaner. Here, progress is an expectation - for you, your team, and the world. As a global market leader, we’ll give you what you need to make it happen. It won’t always be easy, growing takes grit. But at ABB, you’ll never run alone. Run what runs the world.

This Position reports to:

Global Automation Advanced Analytics Service Owner

Your Role: Own the Challenge

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will help build the next generation of AI/ML-enabled solutions that support our strategic vision of digitalizing industrial projects and operational risk management. You will apply your skills in machine learning, cloud platforms—particularly Snowflake and Azure—agile delivery, and software engineering to design and deliver scalable, production-ready AI solutions across global initiatives. You will also play a key role in positioning our team as the AI Center of Excellence within the AU division, working closely with platform teams and business units to define standards, governance, and best practices across AI/ML initiatives.

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

  • Manage end-to-end AI/ML initiatives, from problem definition and data exploration to model development, deployment, and production monitoring.

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and machine learning workflows using Snowflake and Azure cloud services.

  • Develop and deploy machine learning models at scale, applying MLOps best practices for model governance, monitoring, versioning, and retraining.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure AI solutions align with business objectives and delivery roadmaps.

Our team dynamics

Our teams support each other, collaborate, and never stop learning. Everyone brings something unique, and together we push ideas forward to solve real problems. Being part of our team means your work matters - because the progress we make here creates real impact out there.

What it takes to Run what runs the world

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and deploying machine learning or AI solutions in industrial or enterprise environments.

  • Practical proficiency with Snowflake (including data warehousing, Snowpark, stored procedures, and dynamic tables) and experience in working with Azure cloud platforms such as Azure Machine Learning, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse.

  • Proficient foundation in statistics and machine learning algorithms, with the ability to explain and apply concepts related to explainable AI (XAI).

  • Solid programming skills in Python and SQL, combined with reliable software engineering practices (version control, testing, modular design).

  • Experience working in Agile delivery frameworks, including Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines, sprint planning, and backlog management.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale ML projects such as churn modelling, customer retention, risk analytics, or dynamic process modelling.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business insights and collaborate effectively across global teams.

We offer a full range of benefits to help you thrive at work and beyond:

  • Work-Life Balance – Flexible working models, including flextime and hybrid options, to support your personal and professional life.

  • Health & Well-being – Access to various health measures, a Global Employee Assistance Program, and a gender-neutral parental leave policy.
