Job Description
The Role
The Data Scientist role is based in Malaysia within Artificial Intelligence Platform Services team (described at Team section). You will be a mixture of a Data Scientist, Researcher, and a Machine Learning Engineer. Successful performance in this role will be demonstrated through developing and deploying AI solutions which will support SEEK products such as Recommendations and Search Engines. Further, the successful candidate will be expected to stay up to date with emerging techniques in natural language processing and machine learning, and be deeply involved in a culture of continual improvement and collaboration. We are looking for someone who is passionate about understanding human behavior for building and improving internet-scale products informed by data.
Key Responsibilities
- Forming clear data addressable problem statements from current business problems
- Research, build, deploy and maintain RecommendationsAI solutions integrated with recruitment products aiming to properly connect candidates to recruiters
- Improve the chances of matching (job placements) to leverage our AI platform to the next level
- Collaborate with Strategy, Product, Data Science and Software Development teams to address a variety of challenging business problems
- Lead the formulation, development, deployment, and testing of new solutions
- Explore new methodologies and technologies to address R&D problems in a truly collaborative way
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor, MSc or PhD qualification in Computer Science, Computational Physics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
- Professional experience in one of the following programming languages:
- Large scale development using Python, Go, C/C++, or Java
- Ability to perform data exploratory analysis for proof of concepts and to communicate the results to a diverse audience
- Good communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong background in:
- Algorithms and data structures

- Practice with
- Search engine such as Elasticsearch or SOLR;
- Relational database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL;
- Amazon Web Services (e.g. EC2, ELB, S3, VPC, Route 53);
- Distributed processing framework such as Hadoop or Spark;
- Container package such as Docker;
