About the role
Zillow Group is currently seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to join the Marketing Analytics and Data Science team. As a Sr. Data Scientist, you will play a vital role in developing the next generation of measurement models and methods aimed at providing insights and support decision-making for marketing stakeholders.
This team works closely with the marketing organization to discover strategic opportunities in areas spanning brand marketing and performance marketing across channels like google, Facebook, TV & multiple business lines like rentals, B2C and B2B. In this role, you will play a crucial role in elevating our marketing measurement capabilities by developing a more holistic measurement strategy across various marketing campaigns, channels, and granularities. You will leverage your expertise in data analysis, causal inference techniques applied for marketing, experiment design, and marketing analytics to design and implement robust measurement models and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve marketing goals. More specifically you will:
Marketing Measurement Evolution:

Conduct in-depth analyses of marketing campaign performance using advanced statistical methods and causal inference techniques.

Design and execute rigorous experiments to measure the effectiveness of various marketing channels and strategies.

Develop and maintain predictive models to optimize campaign targeting and maximize marketing effectiveness through channel optimizations.
Develop & execute holistic experimentation modeling framework:
-
Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing experimentation platform encompassing various marketing channels, LOBs, and granularities.

Identify opportunities to expand/ further develop the current experimentation platform's capabilities to support a wider range of metrics and channels.

Design & implement a scalable experimentation platform for tests and other marketing experiments to test different marketing hypotheses.

Develop robust statistical models to analyze experiment results and draw data-driven conclusions.

Dive into Zillow's internal and third party data (think Hive, Presto, SQL Server, Tableau) to develop solutions that will help move the business forward and enable better decisions at a rapid speed.
Communication & Collaboration:

Collaborate with data engineering teams to design and optimize data pipelines and workflows to support efficient & accurate data collection, storage, and processing.

Develop and maintain data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data relevant to marketing experiments.

Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve marketing campaign effectiveness, customer targeting, and lead generation.

Effectively communicate complex analytical findings to diverse stakeholders, translating technical concepts into actionable insights and recommendations.
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $145,500.00 - $232,500.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about reporting, translating complicated data sets and business problems into easily consumable and impactful insights. You will also need to be unafraid of tackling complexity and new business problems. We're searching for a Data Scientist who has:

An undergraduate or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. mathematics, engineering, statistics, finance, or similar) 4 years of work experience involving quantitative data analysis and complex problem solving.

7+ years of experience in data science specifically in marketing analytics.
-
Experience in designing and implementing A/B tests and marketing experiments and/or experience in creating platforms that serve A/B tests for marketing at scale.

5+ years of experience implementing a variety of measurement methods across modeling and testing for various marketing use cases
-
5+ years or more of experience as a data scientist experience querying multi-terabyte-sized noisy data sets such as clickstream data.

A strong understanding of statistical concepts, measurement methods, and causal inference techniques as it relates to the marketing space.

Mastery of SQL, Excel, and either Python or R, along with some experience with Databricks, Tableau, or other visualization software.

Ability to work cross-functionally and strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

Proficiency in modeling techniques, a deep understanding on various drivers forms of attribution methods and measurement mechanisms in the marketing space

Understanding and appreciation of how marketing strategies vary across B2B and B2C & how that influences measurement and data science methods.

Demonstrated experience in coaching teams both at a tactical layer and strategic layer.

Experience with tools like Databricks, Snowflake, Looker, Tableau, Airflow or Fivetran

Ph.D degree in a quantitative field (e.g. science, engineering, mathematics) or equivalent experience.
