Cox Communications is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Digital Analytics team (part of a rapidly growing Digital Marketing and Sales organization), who is incredibly passionate about data, has a proven track record of transforming raw data into analytic insight, and desires to make a difference by leveraging the right techniques to arrive at the right answers. The Senior Data Scientist will strongly influence the business and marketing decisions of Cox Communications by supporting and helping to institutionalize a data-driven analysis culture.Your primary role will be to identify and work on high-impact business and marketing problems and develop viable solutions through data analysis, statistics, and advanced analytics techniques. The candidate should have a combination of excellent analytic skill, strong business acumen, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The Senior Data Scientist will have a highly visible role with key leaders and will work closely with teams across the company including other Analytics team members, Marketing, Product, and Business Operations.
This is not a "build reports all day" role. The focus will be on performing analysis, extracting actionable insights, and driving better business decisions and outcomes.
Responsibilities:

  • Identifies actionable insights, provides recommendations, and influences the direction of the business through analysis of large data sets
  • Operates on large data volumes from various data sources. Comfortable with using SQL to query and transform data. Transforms data into actionable insights using Adobe Analytics, Tableau, and ETL tools such as Apache Airflow and dbt
  • Creates interactive Tableau dashboards, reports, charts, presentations, and timelines in support of department or business operations. Translates analytical findings into insights and business recommendations
  • Develops effective responses to requests for ad hoc analyses using standard and advanced analytics techniques
  • Collaborates with an Agile Scrum team to implement projects, complete tasks, and fulfill plans to ensure timely and efficient analysis, modeling, evaluation, and reporting
  • Creates and manages plans for accomplishing detailed analytic activities with quick turnaround
  • Develops creative and innovative analytical problem-solving approaches
  • Prepares written analysis findings and recommendations to key marketing leaders with direct impact on executive-level decisions
  • Owns projects end-to-end (intake and acceptance criteria, data discovery, analysis, presentation or delivery)
  • Manages complex relationships with boundary partners in Marketing & Sales to deliver collaborative results
  • Has the ability and autonomy to work independently in all aspects of analytical initiatives
  • Mentors more junior team members in their development journey


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years' experience in a related field
  • Requires strong knowledge of ability to utilize a variety of data, analytic software, languages/tools; especially SQL and Tableau, but additional examples include Python, PySpark, PowerBI, etc
  • Excellent business acumen and problem-solving skills skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
  • Advanced degree with a focus in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Analytics, Engineering, or closely related field
  • Excellent math and logical skills. Ability to identify trends, analyze data, and extract actionable insights
  • Strong data analysis skills including working with large data sets and understanding how to identify good data quality
  • Strong communication and presentations skills. The ability to successfully comprehend and communicate advanced analytics artifacts, business insights, and resulting implications to non-technical business partners


Preferred:

  • Experience in the telecommunications industry or other subscription-based business
  • Experience in Marketing & Sales
  • Strong expertise in AWS, Apache Airflow, and/or dbt
  • Practical experience building data transformations or analytics applications in AWS
  • Experience with Adobe Analytics
  • Tableau and/or AWS certification


USD 97,100.00 - 161,800.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $97,100.00 - $161,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, parental leave, and COVID-19 vaccination leave.
