The Job:   

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist – Supply Chain Planning & Forecasting with deep functional expertise in demand planning, forecasting, and supply chain transformation within durable goods and industrial global manufacturing environments.

This role is intended for a professional who combines strong analytical and technical capabilities with extensive real-world planning process knowledge. The ideal candidate understands both traditional and modern supply chain planning methodologies and can translate business requirements into scalable forecasting, analytics, and AI/ML-enabled planning solutions.

The individual will play a key role in helping evolve current forecasting and planning capabilities into more advanced, intelligent, and business-driven planning processes.

This position requires someone who has worked closely with planners, supply chain leadership, and business stakeholders and understands the operational realities of planning organizations.

As a Senior Data Scientist – Supply Chain Planning & Forecasting, you’ll be part of our Global Supply Chain Team as a hybrid employee.   You’ll get to:    

  • Partner with Supply Chain Business Leaders, Demand Planning teams, and Digital Transformation stakeholders to improve forecasting and planning capabilities.
  • Analyze and improve current-state demand planning and statistical forecasting processes.
  • Support transformation of legacy planning methodologies into scalable, future-ready AI/ML-enabled planning capabilities.
  • Configure, optimize, and maintain statistical forecasting models and forecasting profiles within planning systems.
  • Develop and enhance forecasting models using Python and R, including statistical and machine learning approaches.
  • Translate business planning requirements into data science and AI/ML solutions that improve forecast accuracy, responsiveness, and planner productivity.
  • Recommend appropriate forecasting models and planning approaches based on time series behavior, demand patterns, and business context.
  • Partner with planners and business users to incorporate both quantitative and qualitative forecasting inputs into planning processes.
  • Ability to configure & test statistical forecasting in Kinaxis Maestro.
  • Collaborate with planning organizations, regional supply chain teams, and Centers of Excellence (CoE).
  • Support forecasting governance, forecast accuracy measurement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, IT, Data Engineering, and Transformation teams to operationalize forecasting improvements.
  • Contribute to long-term AI and advanced analytics roadmap development for supply chain planning.

  • Master’s degree required in Computer Science, Data Science, Supply Chain, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Analytics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Planning, Demand Forecasting, Supply Chain Analytics, or Data Science within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Experience within durable goods, industrial products, or manufacturing industries is required.
  • Strong functional expertise in demand planning and forecasting processes across both legacy and modern planning platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP APO Demand Planning (DP), including:
    • Univariate forecasting profile setup
    • Statistical forecasting model configuration
    • Forecast parameter tuning and optimization
    • Forecast model selection based on time series behavior and business context
  • Experience with Kinaxis Maestro & SAP ECC is required.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, SQL Server and building visualizations using DAX in PowerBI is required.
  • Strong understanding of statistical forecasting concepts and methodologies, including:
    • Time series analysis
    • Trend and seasonality interpretation
    • Model fit and forecast accuracy measurement
    • Forecast consumption and planning workflows
  • Exposure to both quantitative and qualitative forecasting methodologies and the ability to balance statistical outputs with business judgment and market intelligence.
  • Hands-on experience developing and enhancing forecasting solutions using Python and R, including statistical and machine learning forecasting models.
  • Ability to recommend appropriate forecasting models and planning approaches based on demand patterns, business drivers, and operational considerations.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate supply chain planning requirements into scalable AI/ML and advanced analytics solutions.
  • Experience working within planning organizations or Supply Chain Centers of Excellence (CoE) is required.
  • Experience supporting planning transformation initiatives and modernization of forecasting capabilities is required.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Domestic travel is required 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving AI/ML initiatives within Supply Chain Planning.
  • Exposure to advanced forecasting methods, probabilistic forecasting, or machine learning applications in planning.
  • Experience driving business process transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with integrated business planning and digital supply chain transformation.
  • Experience influencing planning process redesign and change management efforts.
  • Experience supporting global or regional planning organizations.
  • Exposure to forecasting automation and AI-assisted planning capabilities.
