Team and Role:
In SmartNews, various opportunities of data science exist. Decision making based on scientific analysis accelerates product and business growth with learning and improvement in try and error cycle processes. In improving user satisfaction and giving value to business stakeholders like publisher, advertiser, and agency etc., data science plays an important role.
We are seeking data scientists who have a proactive mind in an ambiguous environment. As a Data Scientist, your mission is to deliver high-impact data insights that empower our teams to make the best possible decisions in a fast-paced environment. You will be instrumental in leading the improvement of our JP product, working closely with local & global team members to analyze customers, refine strategies, and drive success in this exciting venture.
Responsibilities
- Deliver actionable insight to impact product and business enhancement. Inspire teams for product strategy and roadmap.
- Identify essential problems to solve or hypotheses to verify, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, and business sides.
- Identify opportunities by exploratory analysis, impact size estimation, prioritization.
- Measure product/business progress, by defining/designing metrics , developing dashboard, and reporting to leaderships.
- Apply technical expertise with experiment design/analysis, effect evaluation for non-testable initiative, data wrangling and data visualization
- Organize learnings, knowledge, investigated data result to be efficient for future teams
Required Experience
- 5 or more years of analytical work experience related to online service
- Advanced level SQL
- Programming languages used for data analysis (Python, R, etc.)
- Prior experience working as an analytics lead with cross functional partners
- Expert knowledge of online experiment and statistics
- Advanced degrees in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or analytical field
- Conversational or higher Japanese
- Business or higher English
Nice to Have Experience
- Experience with analysis of online media and contents
- Understanding of data engineering system (e.g. data warehousing, using data workflow tools like Azkaban or Airflow)
- Advanced knowledge on causal inference and mathematical modeling
Working Condition
- Office Location: Tokyo
- All healthcare and social insurance required by the Japanese labor law, plus annual health check
