Senior Data Scientist I

ImpactAs a Senior Data Scientist I on the Personalization Data Science team, you'll shape the algorithms and systems that power recommendations across our digital experience, from first impressions to basket-building and re-engagement.
We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist who thrives on driving real-world impact through personalization. In this role you will design and implement machine learning models for product recommendations, with a focus on personalization and first-order experience, build and iterate on systems such as: two-tower models for customer and item embeddings, contextual multi-armed bandits (CMABs) for personalized ranking, retrieval pipelines, etc, and collaborate with ML engineers to productionalize models and ensure reobust deployment. You'll partner with engineers, product managers, and other data scientists to experiment, scale, and deliver features that directly influence business outcomes.
This is an opportunity to work on end-to-end ML systems -- from problem framing and modeling to deployment and measurement -- in a growing and highly visible team.

• 5+ years of experience in applied machine learning or data science roles.
• Hands-on experience developing recommendation systems, ranking models, or personalization features.
• Strong modeling and analytical skills using Python, SQL, and common ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Ability to translate business goals into well-framed data science problems.
• Comfort with ambiguity, experimentation, and iterating in a fast-paced environment.

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader.  Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Pay Range:

$123,000-$247,000

All other locations:

$109,000-$219,000

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
