We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist for our Central Recommendations Team in Berlin.
You will join a team of data scientists, machine learning specialists and data engineers who are building recommendations to surface engaging content at the right learning level for Babbel’s learners.
You will
- Scope and implement proof-of-concepts for new algorithms that optimally fit the needs of Babbel’s learners
- Design and Implement production-grade recommendation solutions that not only drive engagement for our learners but also fit their learning needs
- Partner with ML- and Backend engineers to create scalable and future-proof data products
You have
- Data Science/Mathematics/Natural Science MSc with a strong mathematical focus, PhD is a plus
- 3-5 years of industry experience as a Data Scientist
- Proficiency and industry experience in modern Python
- Hands-on experience with the Data Science-focused python stack (sklearn, pandas, ideally also RecPack or LightFM) and Deep Learning frameworks (Pytorch, TensorFlow)
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
- Strong communication skills with an ability to present your work to non-technical audiences with empathy
- A curiosity for the domain you are working with. You want to know where your data is coming from - and how to improve it
- A strong user focus. You empathise with your users, and care about creating a great experience for them.
Nice to have
- Experience with big data solutions such as Databricks, and Apache Flink.
- Experience with PySpark/Spark
- Experience working in cross-functional, user facing teams.
- Experience in working in agile environments.
