As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you’ll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies—like machine learning and AI—to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers’ high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.
- ## Educational Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, or a related field.
Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Deep Learning, or NLP is highly preferred.

## Experience - Must
8+ years of IT experience, with 6+ years in data science and 2+ Years in Agentic AI. Deployed multiple solution in Production using unstructured data.
Proven experience designing, pretraining, and fine-tuning large-scale LLMs for tasks such as text generation, summarization, and question answering.
Research orientated, quick prototyping, and build AI / GenAI solution at enterprise scale.
## Technical Skills
Strong Python programming skills; hands-on with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
Solid understanding of transformer architectures (BERT, GPT, LLaMA) and fine-tuning techniques (SFT, LoRA, adapters, prompt engineering).
Deep expertise in build model with large unstructured data, Solutioning, Deep learning framework and Re-enforcement learning.
Familiarity with Databricks, MLflow, and Delta Lake; experience with MLOps best practices including CI/CD and model versioning.
Proficiency in data preprocessing and handling large-scale text, image, or multimodal datasets.
- *(Preferred)* Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks such as **LangGraph, LangChain, or LlamaIndex**, including agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, multi-agent system design, MCP, Azure Foundry etc.
- *(Preferred)* Proficiency in **AI-assisted coding tools** (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) for accelerating development across complex codebases.
- Exposure to computer vision or multimodal models is a plus.
## Cloud & Infrastructure
Experience working with cloud platforms, with a preference for candidates familiar with the Azure ecosystem.
Comfortable working in UNIX/Linux environments with command-line scripting.
## Soft Skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written, verbal, and visual).
Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and mentor junior members.
