Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Data Science Consultant within the Specialty Underwriting and Credit Services (Cards, Merchant Services, and Personal Loans) organization. The role focuses on leading the development and buildout of Smart Tools and AI to automate and streamline workflows and transform lending operations. The position requires a blend of strategic thinking, technical fluency, and execution rigor to build innovative solutions that enhance credit decisioning, operational efficiency, and strengthen risk management outcomes.
In this role, you will:
- Own the execution of AI, GenAI, and Smart Tool initiatives across underwriting and credit services-from ideation through build, deployment, and scale
- Design and develop intelligent automation solutions and scalable frameworks, leveraging platforms such as PowerApps, Power Automate, and other advanced analytics and automation tools
- Lead the buildout of integrated smart tooling ecosystems, combining data, decisioning logic, and workflow orchestration to streamline and modernize credit processes
- Drive AI and GenAI innovation, delivering use cases across underwriting, document intelligence, customer servicing, and decision support systems
- Establish reusable accelerators and standards to scale automation, analytics, and decisioning capabilities across lending workflows
- Drive continuous process transformation, identifying inefficiencies and delivering measurable improvements in throughput, accuracy, and customer experience
- Lead cross-functional collaboration and strategic partnerships, influencing stakeholders and ensuring successful delivery of programs, tools, and initiatives
- Oversee governance, controls, and scalability of solutions, ensuring sustainability, compliance, and enterprise alignment
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Data Science, Automation, Digital Transformation, Analytics or Strategic Planning or equivalent demonstrated through experience, training, or education
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in consumer lending / unsecured credit, including underwriting, credit services, or credit decisioning environments
- Strong experience in automation, workflow transformation, and scalable solution development, including hands-on build using PowerApps, Power Automate, and other automation tools
- Exposure to or experience with AI/GenAI solution development, with demonstrated ability to drive adoption and deliver measurable business impact
- Strong understanding of risk management, compliance, and the credit lifecycle, with ability to align solutions to regulatory and governance requirements
- Strong problem-solving and structured thinking, with the ability to translate ambiguous business problems into actionable, scalable solutions
- Experience developing reusable frameworks, accelerators, and enterprise-scale solutions
- Strong program and project management discipline, with ability to streamline processes, simplify controls, and deliver complex initiatives end-to-end
