Who you areMetropolis is seeking a Senior Data Program Manager to embed within our Data Platform and Data Science organization. In this role, you will deeply engage with technical teams to drive complex, cross-functional programs from inception to delivery across data infrastructure and machine learning systems. You will partner directly with engineers, data scientists, analytics engineers, and business stakeholders to bring clarity, structure, and momentum to critical initiatives ranging from data platform migrations to AI-powered product launches. As the connective tissue of our data organization, you will build trusted relationships, streamline operational rigor, and ensure our most ambitious programs deliver predictably and seamlessly.
What you'll do● Own end-to-end program management for multi-team data platform and data science initiatives from scoping and planning through launch and retrospective
● Define program roadmaps, milestones, and delivery timelines while facilitating flexible agile ceremonies tailored to team needs
● Proactively identify blockers, surface risks early, and track program health through concise status updates, dashboards, and executive summaries
● Develop a deep understanding of the data platform stack, including pipelines, cloud data warehouses, dbt models, orchestration tools, and ML infrastructure, to coordinate migrations and upgrades with minimal disruption
● Support Data Science teams across the machine learning project lifecycle from data preparation and experimentation to model deployment and monitoring
● Translate technical concepts into clear business language for executive audiences and business priorities into actionable technical requirements for engineering teams
● Serve as the primary coordination point across Data Platform, Data Science, Analytics Engineering, BI Development, Product, Operations, and Finance to manage dependencies and resource planning
● Drive operational excellence by identifying process gaps, maintaining program documentation and runbooks, and improving delivery predictability without introducing bureaucracy
● Coordinate programs advancing the company's AI enablement strategy, including data readiness initiatives, feature engineering workstreams, and LLM-powered product integrations while embedding data governance, compliance, and privacy
What we're looking for● 5+ years of technical program management experience, with at least 2+ years embedded in a data, analytics, or ML engineering organization
● Strong understanding of the modern data stack, including concepts like ELT pipelines, data warehousing, data modeling, and analytics engineering
● Experience managing ML or data science programs, with working knowledge of the ML lifecycle across data preparation, experimentation, model training, deployment, and monitoring
● Experience coordinating programs that advance AI enablement strategies, feature engineering workstreams, and LLM-powered product integrations Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs with multiple workstreams and stakeholders across engineering, product, and business teams
● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of writing crisp status updates, meeting summaries, and executive briefings
● Comfort operating in ambiguity and bringing structure to unrefined situations without waiting for perfect information
● Proficiency with program and project management tools such as Jira, Asana, Linear, or Notion
While not required, these are a plus:● Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, analytics engineering tools like dbt, or data platforms including Snowflake, Tableau, and StatsSig
● Experience supporting generative AI or LLM-based product initiatives
● PMP, PgMP, or equivalent program management certification
● Background working in a fast-growth technology company or startup environment
