Citi is looking for a Senior Data Governance Analyst to play a pivotal role in strengthening the integrity and traceability of data across a global financial institution. In this position, you will lead the governance of data lineage, metadata quality, and authoritative data sources, ensuring that critical data assets meet enterprise standards and regulatory expectations. Your work will directly influence how Citi manages data risk and shapes governance frameworks used across business lines and functions worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Document, maintain, and enhance end-to-end data lineage across critical systems, applications, and reporting assets to ensure traceability and regulatory readiness.
Partner with business, technology, and data owners to identify and remediate gaps in lineage documentation, metadata quality, and data source alignment.
Manage and maintain authoritative data source inventories, including onboarding new records and keeping existing source documentation accurate and complete.
Execute metadata quality reviews and establish controls that keep data asset documentation current, consistent, and aligned to enterprise governance standards.
Monitor and report on governance metrics — including lineage completeness, metadata quality, and authoritative data source coverage — to track adoption and maturity across the organization.
Lead system change processes from requirements definition through to implementation, ensuring governance controls are embedded throughout.
Support governance forums and issue management processes related to data lineage, metadata, and data sourcing, contributing to remediation activities and enterprise-wide policy recommendations.
Coach and guide colleagues within the team, sharing knowledge on governance processes, data controls, and continuous improvement practices.
Required Qualifications & Skills
5 to 8 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a closely related field, with demonstrated ownership of governance initiatives.
Hands-on knowledge of metadata management, data dictionaries, business glossaries, and data catalog concepts, applied to real-world governance challenges.
Proven ability to manage complex projects, balancing multiple stakeholder needs against shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
Clear and effective communicator, able to translate technical data concepts for business audiences and engage credibly across all levels of an organization.
Analytical mindset with the ability to filter, assess, and prioritize complex or ambiguous information from multiple sources to reach sound conclusions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, used to produce governance reporting and stakeholder communications.
Human Resources domain knowledge or experience working with HR data, processes, and systems is highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
