We’re looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Digital Technology Team in Archerfield.
Reporting to the Manager – Data Enablement, the Senior Data Engineer will help shape the future of data at Sime Industrial.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of our enterprise data platform, contributing to both the transformation to a modern analytics platform and the ongoing evolution of our unified data ecosystem. You will balance hands-on data engineering with strategic oversight - delivering scalable, governed solutions while guiding teams and key stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing:
As a Senior Data Engineer at Sime Industrial, you will:
Lead data platform design & architecture across the Unified Data Platform, including Microsoft Fabric migration, AX ERP data modelling, and Denodo solution design, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
Deliver high-quality data solutions by designing, building and optimising data pipelines and analytics components, applying best practices, testing and data engineering.
Own platform performance & stability, including monitoring, incident management, deployments and ongoing BAU support.
Drive delivery & stakeholder outcomes by leading sprint planning, managing backlogs, and partnering with internal teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
Ensure governance, audit & team capability through strong data governance, access control, audit readiness, and mentoring of junior and offshore engineers.
What you’ll need:
A degree in Computer Science or IT is essential; Microsoft data/analytics certifications (Fabric, Azure, BI) would be highly regarded.
Extensive data engineering experience (5+ years) across Microsoft technologies, including Power BI, data warehousing, modelling, and performance optimisation.
Proven technical leadership delivering end-to-end data solutions on modern cloud platforms, with experience mentoring engineers and working in agile, enterprise environments.
Well-rounded stakeholder and governance capability, including ERP data exposure, strong business engagement skills, and experience supporting data governance, access controls and audit requirements.

Skills Required
