Job DescriptionAs a Senior Data Engineer, you will build the data foundation that powers the Oscar platform. This role is focused on scalable ingestion and cross-cloud integration, enabling expansion of the platform’s knowledge base and downstream AI capabilities.
This position will offer flexibility for hybrid work schedules to include both in-office presence and telecommute/virtual work, to be based from either Houston or Dallas, TX.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, production-grade data ingestion pipelines
- Enable and optimize data integration across Azure and AWS environments
- Own data modeling and transformation to support AI and analytics use cases
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and observability across pipelines
- Partner with platform and AI teams to support evolving data needs
- Drive best practices for performance, cost, and scalability
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree plus at least 8 years of data engineering experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Strong experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and large-scale data systems
- Hands-on experience with Azure and AWS data services
- Microsoft Azure hands-on: Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database, Azure AI Services
- Hand-on building data replication and synchronization between AWS and Azure using ADF and Synapse or Azure SQL
- Proven experience with API-based and event-driven data integration patterns
- Familiarity with Data Lake architecture (AWS S3 with Lake Formation governance)
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data processing frameworks
- Experience building a reliable, production-grade data pipeline
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cross-cloud architectures and integrations
- Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines or feature stores
- Familiarity with attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) using AWS Lake Formation tags
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): S3 Data Lake, Lake Formation (Tag-Based ABAC), IAM, Glue, Lambda
- Monitoring & logging (Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch)
