Job DescriptionYou will work within a pod alongside other Data Engineers, reporting to your Lead Data Engineer. You will collaborate asynchronously with UK colleagues, taking ownership of data products within your domain. You are expected to be a positive influence on technical standards and to support less experienced engineers in their development.
You will regularly engage with teams across the business to understand how they use data and what they need to succeed. You will contribute to onboarding resources and documentation that help analysts and data scientists navigate our ecosystem. You treat the success of your stakeholder teams as a measure of your own success.
A Senior Data Engineer acts as a role model for best practice and high-quality technical output. They support their team by providing constructive feedback and challenging when technical output does not meet standards. They drive measurable technical improvement and innovation within their team.
QualificationsAs Senior Data Engineer, you will be a technical leader within your pod, delivering complex data solutions while supporting the development of engineers around you. You will play a key role in migrating legacy systems to our modern stack and establishing best practices that scale.
We require a Senior Data Engineer who is highly skilled in:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Snowflake (warehouses, clustering, performance tuning, data sharing)
- 5 to 7 yrs of experience into Data Engineer role
- dbt (modular transformations, testing, documentation, Slim CI)
- Python for data engineering (pandas, orchestration, automation)
- SQL at an advanced level (complex transformations, query optimisation)
- AWS data services (S3, Glue, Kinesis, DMS, Lambda)
- Data pipeline design (batch and streaming patterns)
- Data quality implementation (dbt tests, validation frameworks)
- Version control and CI/CD (Git, GitHub Actions, CodePipeline)
- Mentoring and supporting other engineers through code review and pairing
- Working directly with stakeholder teams to understand their data requirements
- Contributing to documentation, onboarding guides, and learning resources
- Explaining technical concepts clearly to analysts and non‑technical colleagu
