You.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our team in Herndon, VA
This role is on-site. Candidate must hold an active DoD TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a CI with polygraph.
Responsibilities.
•Lead the design and development of end-to-end data pipelines that support operational dashboards, predictive analytics, and real-time decision-making.
•Architect secure, scalable data platforms that integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple systems across the enterprise.
•Define data models and governance standards to ensure interoperability, compliance, and reuse across projects.
•Serve as a technical advisor to stakeholders across data science, product, and program teams.
•Collaborate with stakeholders to translate mission requirements into robust data solutions that support situational awareness and strategic planning.
•Ensure compliance with data security policies and agency-specific data handling protocols.
•Optimize data flows for performance, resiliency, and cost-effectiveness within hybrid cloud or on-prem environments.
•Implement automation and orchestration to accelerate delivery, reduce risk, and maintain data integrity across lifecycles.
•Participate in ATO processes and maintain documentation required for security accreditation.
Required Qualifications.
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
•12+ years of experience in data engineering with increasing levels of responsibility.
•Active TS/SCI security clearance w/ eligibility for CI Polygraph.
•Proven experience building enterprise-grade pipelines in cloud and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
•Expertise in Python, SQL, and at least one compiled language (e.g., Java, Scala).
•Experience with data orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow), CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
•Strong foundation in data modeling, warehousing (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake), and real-time streaming (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis).
•Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards in government contexts.
•Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications.
•Experience supporting national security, defense, or public sector missions.
•Hands-on experience with data governance frameworks (e.g., NIST RMF, CDM, CUI data controls).
•Familiarity with geospatial, sensor, or intelligence data systems.
•Experience implementing Zero Trust and secure data exchange practices.
