About Easy Agile
Easy Agile is an Australian founded bootstrapped start-up. We have four products built on top of Atlassian’s flagship product Jira, sold via the Atlassian Marketplace. Profitable from year 1, we are on a truly unique journey with an emphasis on work/family/community/self balance, while growing a high-performing team. Due to our extremely fortunate position, we are driven by giving back to our community and our people - enabling our people to live the lives they only dreamed of.
Our HQ is in Wollongong and we have an office in Sydney, but you can find us scattered along the coast anywhere from Brighton to Tweed Heads. We offer flexible working, so you can be based anywhere in Australia! We optimise for collaboration and connection face to face as a team each quarter.
We believe that being agile is a mindset, and that true agility unlocks a team’s potential to be happier at work, have more impact in the solutions they’re building, and be more focused on their customer’s success! That’s why our purpose is to help organisations realise the benefits of being agile. We’re proud to call over 1,900 companies our customers, including Netflix, Harvard, Amazon, Lego, Mercedes and Twitter.
About the role:
As a Senior Data Engineer at Easy Agile, you’ll play a key role in the end to end development and maintenance of our data systems, ensuring data flows smoothly across the organisation. From integrating external data sources to transforming data for business reporting, you will ensure that our data is reliable, scalable and accessible to all stakeholders. You’ll also be a key mentor to our growing data team, helping everyone level up their skills and ensuring we keep improving together.
What you’ll do:
- Design and build data pipelines to integrate data from a variety of sources into Snowflake, ensuring our data flows smoothly and is always reliable.
- Develop and enhance data models to support business analytics, focusing on scalability and efficiency.
- Facilitate the delivery of complex data projects, guiding the team through ambiguity, managing dependencies and ensuring high impact results.
- Collaborate with teams across the business to translate their questions into data solutions, ensuring that insights are clear, actionable and accessible.
- Maintain data integrations to operational systems and reporting tools, providing teams with guided self-serve access to the data they need to make informed decisions.
- Mentor and coach team members, helping them grow their technical skills and guiding them in best practices for data engineering and modelling.
- Stay on top of industry trends, identifying new tools and methodologies that are fit for purpose, and could help us work smarter and more efficiently.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts for our data infrastructure, always looking for ways to streamline processes and improve how we work with data.
About you:
- You have deep experience building and maintaining scalable data pipelines with dbt (Data Build Tool), Python and Snowflake.
- You understand DataOps principles and are comfortable setting up CI/CD pipelines for data, ensuring smooth version control, efficient testing and fast deployments.
- You’re an expert in Kimball-style data modelling and know how to build user-friendly reporting layers.
- You thrive in collaborative, people first environments and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into actionable data solutions.
- You love to learn and grow and you take pride in sharing your knowledge with others. Whether it’s through mentoring or team knowledge sharing sessions, you want to enable the team to be even stronger than when you joined!
- You have excellent communication skills and know how to explain complex data challenges and solutions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
- You’re comfortable making informed decisions even with imperfect or limited data and you know when optimise for speed or scale.
We’ll be excited if you have:
- Experience using Typescript.
- Familiarity with basic machine learning concepts and data science workflows, including feature engineering and model evaluation to support the uplift of existing models into production.
- Experience implementing data democratisation efforts, such as developing a data catalogue or implementing data literacy programs.
