Senior Data Engineer (Snowflake, Informatica and ETL Solutions)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with 7+ years of experience in handling complex data projects, both on-premise and in the cloud. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in implementing large-scale data warehousing programs and end-to-end data integration solutions, particularly using Snowflake Cloud and Informatica PowerCenter. This role requires a mix of technical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to best practices in data engineering.

Overall Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, implementation, and management of large-scale data warehousing programs and end-to-end data integration solutions.
• Develop and maintain ETL applications using Informatica PowerCenter within an enterprise data warehouse environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.
• Optimize and tune database performance, including the use of Teradata utilities (Bteq, Fastload, Multiload, Procedures, Macros).
• Create, modify, and optimize SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and triggers to support data integration and reporting needs.
• Promote development standards, best practices, and reusable components for design and delivery assurance.
• Ensure the security and integrity of data in compliance with enterprise standards and policies.
• Contribute to the DevOps processes and tools, including container-based deployments using Docker.
• Work effectively in an Agile squad/chapter setup, utilizing tools such as JIRA for project management and collaboration.
• Mentor junior team members and promote a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Technical Skills:

• Experience: 7+ years of experience managing data projects utilizing both on-premise and cloud database technologies, with a strong focus on ETL technologies.
• Data Warehousing: Extensive experience implementing data warehousing solutions on Snowflake Cloud and Informatica PowerCenter, integrated with relational databases such as Teradata, DB2, and SQL Server.
• Performance Tuning: Proficiency in Teradata utilities and performance tuning.
• SQL Skills: Strong SQL skills with experience in database programming, including designing for performance and implementing referential integrity.
• Programming: Competency in Unix/Linux programming (Shell and/or Python); Python knowledge is a plus.
• DevOps Practices: Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, TeamCity).
• Containerization: Experience in containerization using Docker and managing Docker images.
• Enterprise Applications: Understanding of large enterprise application requirements, including security and entitlements.

Experience:

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of delivering complex data projects.
• Experience working in an Agile environment and familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools.
• Strong communication and leadership skills to facilitate collaboration across teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Prior experience in the financial industry is a plus.
• Experience in building applications using Teradata and Informatica is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of real-time streaming and microservices architecture is a plus.
• Familiarity with the Hadoop ecosystem (e.g., Hive, PySpark) is an added advantage.
