Job Summary
The Data Engineer, Senior (remote) designs, develops, and optimizes scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data infrastructure. This role manages and organizes structured and unstructured data to support outcomes analysis, reporting, business intelligence, data science, compliance, and operational decision-making. The Data Engineer, Senior helps ensure data quality, security, and performance across platforms while providing technical leadership and guidance to less experienced engineers.
Essential Functions
- Designs and develops efficient, scalable data pipelines using cloud-based services.
- Maintains and refactors complex SQL and extract, transform, and load processes within enterprise data platforms.
- Develops automation scripts, application programming interfaces, and infrastructure components.
- Collaborates with architects, analysts, and stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into data solutions.
- Ensures appropriate data quality, integrity, security, and performance controls across platforms.
- Troubleshoots complex data issues and leads root-cause analysis efforts.
- Provides technical guidance and supports the development of less experienced engineers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field; or the equivalent required
- 5-7 years of experience in data engineering, data development, or a related field required
- Experience leading technical projects or major data engineering initiatives required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced SQL skills and strong knowledge of relational databases, data warehousing, and data modeling.
- Proficiency in Python or Java Virtual Machine-based languages, such as Java, Scala, or Kotlin, for data engineering and automation.
- Deep knowledge of cloud-based data patterns, distributed systems, and modern data architectures.
- Strong understanding of extract, transform, and load and extract, load, and transform processes.
- Strong analytical reasoning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead technical delivery efforts and manage complex projects.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in cross-functional environments.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and version control practices.
