Squarespace is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Platforms Group. Data Platforms is focused on building interoperable software, datasets and processes to provide relevant data-driven insights to our internal and external customers. These data signals directly support key initiatives in the product and business. As a part of the Frameworks & Tools group within Data Platforms, you will build the foundational tools and platforms that allow Squarespace to build and scale applications and analytics successfully. You will design, build and extend tooling like our Event Pipeline, Data Lake ingestion tooling, and streaming data delivery capabilities while helping expand the impact of data across the organization.

You will report to the manager of Data Frameworks & Tools in our NYC office. This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week.

You'll Get To…

  • Build, maintain, and scale the systems that deliver hundreds of millions of data points daily
  • Architect resilient distributed systems to power near-realtime personalization and analytics
  • Push our existing platform tooling more towards self-service and improve the user experience of our technology
  • Work to bring Privacy by Design to the entry points of our data ecosystem - protecting the data of Squarespace and our customers
  • Develop and launch efficient and reliable data pipelines to ingest and transform data
  • Deploy inclusive data quality checks to ensure quality and timeliness of data, and diagnose/fix issues to ensure SLAs 
  • Collaborate with product manager and product engineers, data owners, data stewards and customers to implement and maintain data products to serve analytics, ML and reporting needs
  • Work with other engineers to improve reliability, documentation and automation to simplify self-service support for datasets

Who We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience building data pipelines and microservices using languages such as Java or Scala
  • 3+ years of experience designing and developing large scale asynchronous eventing systems with platforms such as Kafka
  • 3+ years of experience building streaming data solutions using frameworks such as Spark
  • Experience leading small project teams, mentoring more junior engineers, and scoping work
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams across organizational boundaries 
  • Experience with modern data storage (BigQuery, Postgres) and orchestration (Airflow, etc.) tools

Cash Compensation Range: $128,500 - $231,500 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to receive an incentive award as part of their total compensation.
