Senior Data Engineer - Oracle Application DBA
The Role
Fidelity Investments is looking to hire a Senior Data Engineer - Oracle Application DBA providing frontline Production support for our Development, Test, and Production environments. This position offers you the opportunity to be responsible for the creation and ongoing support of database infrastructure for multiple Fidelity business units and development teams. Key database platforms required to be successful in this role will include but not be limited to Oracle, SQL Server and Postgres. We are looking for top talent with strong troubleshooting skills as a crucial skill for this role. This role requires the participation in an on-call rotation.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Experience performing Oracle 19c database administration for high availability systems, within the financial services or similar industries.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree, or equivalent experience
- Perform applications database administration (Oracle, Postgres, and SQL Server) services including SQL code review, database performance analysis and optimization, query tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, development support & data engineering.
- Proven analytical, data mapping, and problem-solving abilities with strong judgment, issues management and process analysis skills.
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL language
- Proven experience analyzing and implement database technology infrastructure solutions with minimal direction.
- Technical curiosity to fix and resolve technical issues quickly.
- Proficiency in Scripting languages and Unix Shell Scripting. Basic proficiency of programming languages (Python) is preferred.
- Expertise with Oracle Golden Gate, database replication and data movement strategies & tools
- Experience with 24/7 Production Enterprise support
- Familiarity with Public Cloud environments, preferably AWS and Azure.
- Experience with Oracle system as well as Application DBA support functions.
- Resolve issues that arise in day-to-day management of RPA/UDA program and provide timely responses and solutions as required
- Communicating at a business function level with technology personnel in both verbal and written communication
- Collaboration with developers, system administrators, and Application support engineers, participating in cross-functional teams and projects
- Deep understanding of Oracle database connectivity (Sqlnet, listeners, scan listeners, tnsnames)
- Advanced Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices including software configuration management, test automation, versioning.
- Provide knowledge leadership for development teams in terms of scalability and database growth, making recommendations for hardware and software upgrades
The Team
As part of the Advanced Process Solutions (APS) team you will work with teams that develops software which supports work flowing through and between Fidelity business units. Our software helps move work through Fidelity, providing a link between multiple coordinated applications that services Fidelity’s customers.. Our team manages the databases used for both developing and supporting the software for the business units.
