The Senior Data Engineer will extract, transform, and integrate data from diverse clinical systems—including Epic Clarity, third-party APIs, and other internal and external sources—using SQL, Python, and additional programming languages as needed. The role ensures seamless integration of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data within Snowflake and Databricks environments, with familiarity in REDCap databases considered a plus.
This position plays a key role in organizing, managing, and optimizing the organization’s data ecosystem, enabling enhanced decision-making across clinical operations and research. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes that support clinical and financial reporting.
The role is full time (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with minimal weekend or holiday work and occasional on-call coverage as needed. The caregiver must work onsite at Cleveland Main Campus, with eligibility for a hybrid work arrangement after 90 days.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Analyze, design and coordinate the development of software systems.
Develop new software and proof/test them to assure production of a quality product.
Analyze current programs and processes.
Make recommendations for more cost-effective products and better streamlined workflows.
Define and implement high performance software by leveraging a strong understanding of embedded hardware design.
Provide technical support to other Developers when project support is needed, including the design of relational databases and client-side programming strategies using the latest HTML, CSS and JavaScript frameworks.
Determine and communicate the implications of system-level decisions on subsystems and components and mitigate issues.
Translate clinical problems into innovative healthcare solutions.
Gather business and application specific requirements.
Ensure all requirements are met as well as maintained within defined project scope.
Determine whether a particular problem is caused by hardware, operating systems software, application programs or network failures and supporting as necessary.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field and 10 years of software development experience and healthcare software development
OR High School Diploma/GED and 15 years of experience
OR Associate’s Degree and 13 years of experience
ITIL Foundations Certification within six months of hire
Proven track record of enterprise architecture experience with large volume, high availability enterprise applications.
Experience with Microsoft, Net Technology Stack and Relational Database Design
Microsoft C#, iOS Objective C, VBScript, Visual Basic, ColdFusion, Microsoft T-SQL, JavaScript, CCSS3 and/or HTML5 experience
Query, query Mobile, KnockoutJS, UnderscoreJS and/or YUI Compressor experience
Experience in interfacing with internal and external customers
SOA development using SOAP and REST; mobile application development and associated libraries experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Experience with hospital or medical systems
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
