Role Overview
The Senior Data Engineer with deep expertise in AxiomSL is to support regulatory reporting initiatives within a complex banking and financial services environment. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining AxiomSL data sources, components, and regulatory reports while ensuring data integrity, traceability, and compliance with federal regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong AxiomSL platform experience with advanced SQL, data modeling proficiency, and the ability to troubleshoot large-scale data integration challenges across disparate source systems.
 Key Responsibilities 
 AxiomSL Development & Platform Management
  • Design, develop, enhance, and upgrade AxiomSL data sources, portfolios, aggregates, and report templates.
  • Configure and maintain AxiomSL components, data models, and calculation logic to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Support AxiomSL platform upgrades, patching, and environment migrations.
  • Implement automation strategies for report generation, validation, and reconciliation processes.
Regulatory Reporting Delivery
  • Develop and maintain regulatory reports including FRY-9C, FFIEC 101, 14M, and 14Q.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into technical specifications and AxiomSL data mappings.
  • Partner with Regulatory Reporting, Finance, and Risk teams to validate calculations and reporting outputs.
  • Support internal and external audits with clear data lineage, controls documentation, and traceability.
Data Engineering & Integration
  • Design and maintain scalable data pipelines feeding AxiomSL from core banking, risk, and finance systems.
  • Perform advanced SQL development for data transformation, aggregation, and validation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues across upstream and downstream systems.
  • Implement reconciliation controls to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of reported data.
  • Develop robust data models aligned to regulatory reporting and risk aggregation standards.
Data Governance & Quality
  • Enforce data governance standards including lineage documentation, metadata management, and control frameworks.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for data anomalies and reporting discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with enterprise data management teams to improve data quality and consistency.
  • Establish monitoring and automation mechanisms to proactively identify reporting issues.
Production Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide L2/L3 production support for AxiomSL regulatory reporting cycles.
  •  Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and regulatory submission processes.
  • Identify opportunities for performance optimization and process automation.
  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge transfer, and platform stability initiatives.
 Required Qualifications/Skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering within banking or financial services
  • 3+ years of hands-on AxiomSL development experience
  • Strong experience developing regulatory reports (FRY-9C, FFIEC 101, 14M/Q)
  • Advanced SQL expertise (complex joins, CTEs, performance tuning, data transformations)
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles (dimensional and relational models)
  • Experience integrating multiple source systems into regulatory reporting platforms
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex data quality and reconciliation issues
  • Experience working in controlled, audit-sensitive regulatory environments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Federal Reserve or OCC regulatory submissions
  • Familiarity with BCBS 239 principles and regulatory data aggregation standards
  • Experience with automation tools or scripting (Python, shell scripting, workflow orchestration tools)
  • Knowledge of enterprise ETL tools and data warehousing platforms
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  •  Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies
