What You’ll Do:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer to support the design and delivery of our growing data center portfolio. This role requires strong technical expertise to develop and implement innovative mechanical solutions, such as advanced chilled-water systems, liquid cooling, and optimized airflow strategies, while ensuring consistency, scalability, and efficiency across projects. The Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert, partnering with internal teams and external consultants to deliver cutting-edge, reliable facilities at scale.
Travel will be required to various data center sites.
About the role:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on mechanical design for assigned projects, ensuring alignment with the company’s Basis of Design, standards, and long-term portfolio goals.
  • Manage the mechanical design process, coordinating consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality requirements are met.
  • Review design drawings, specifications, and shop drawings, providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with owner requirements.
  • Shape the long-term cooling strategy by evaluating emerging technologies (e.g., liquid cooling, advanced economizer designs, high-density airflow solutions) and recommending integration paths that support the portfolio’s future growth and efficiency goals.
  • Support commissioning and site activities by validating that systems meet design intent and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative approaches to cooling and efficiency challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with IT, operations, and project management teams to deliver integrated, future-ready infrastructure.
  • Contribute to lessons learned, standards development, and continuous improvement initiatives across the data center portfolio.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • 5–7+ years of mechanical design experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of chilled-water and air-cooled systems, liquid cooling solutions, and redundant piping configurations.
  • Familiarity with controls/BAS systems and the ability to develop sequences of operation.
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling and energy analysis preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative approaches to cooling and efficiency challenges.
