Senior Data Architect/ Team Manager

You will be part of the Data team at Avaloq which is responsible for end-to-end data management, reporting, analytics, ML modeling, and AI operationalization.

Your key tasks

• Strategic Leadership:

  • Define and drive the data architecture strategy for the division, aligning with business and technology objectives
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, translating business needs into scalable data solutions
  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, with a focus on cloud-native architectures

• Architecture & Design:

  • Design enterprise-level data models, data flows, and integration frameworks
  • Architect solutions across relational, NoSQL, and Big Data platforms
  • Ensure alignment with data governance, security, and compliance standards

• Governance & Quality:

  • Implement data governance frameworks including metadata, lineage, and master data management
  • Champion data quality and consistency across systems and teams

• Cloud & ETL Expertise:

  • Lead ETL migration initiatives from on-premise to cloud platforms
  • Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure SQL is a strong plus

• Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operational support
  • Collaborate with global teams, demonstrating cultural awareness and adaptability
  • Facilitate workshops and technical discussions with cross-functional stakeholders

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or consulting roles
• Proven experience in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and ETL migration projects
• Strong skills in SQL, Python, and data modeling
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and modern data stack tools
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing technical teams

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

• Certifications in cloud data platforms or architecture frameworks (e.g., AWS, Azure, TOGAF)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• High cultural awareness and experience working with international teams
• Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution
