Senior Data and Business Intelligence Manager - Datalytics - Remote U.S.

Position Overview
We’re looking for a senior-level leader to oversee our enterprise data warehouse, lead the development of Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions, and work directly with clients to deliver business insights generated from predictive modeling and AI. This role will partner closely with technical teams responsible for model development and help translate analytical results into clear, actionable recommendations for business users and clients.

Milliman’s Chicago-Milwaukee Property and Casualty practice develops innovative products and provides actuarial consulting services. Milliman Datalytics-Defense® is an e-billing solution that was designed and built by seasoned actuaries exclusively for the analytical needs of insurance companies. It provides a platform for the submission of defense attorney invoices and facilitates the review and payment of those invoices. Datalytics provides a dynamic workflow that allows for the escalation of certain processes, as well as an auditing feature with completely configurable business rules. Detailed data is collected, organized, and presented to our clients to help manage their defense firms by providing peer-to-peer comparisons and predictive analytics. 

Responsibilities in this role will include:

• Lead the ongoing improvement of the enterprise data warehouse environment.
• Provide technical leadership, including identifying and vetting emerging technologies, establishing overall direction, and identifying and enforcing best practices for the data warehouse, BI, and other reporting initiatives.
• Oversee and participate directly in the design, development, and maintenance of Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
• Directly manage and mentor one or more team members.
• Partner with data science and analytics teams to understand outputs from predictive models and AI solutions and communicate results to clients and stakeholders.
• Work directly with business stakeholders to gather business requirements; then leading their translation into reporting, dashboard, and data solutions.
• Ensure data accuracy, quality, consistency, and governance across reporting and analytics platforms.
• Serve as a key point of contact for clients and internal leadership, presenting findings, trends, and performance insights in a clear and business-focused manner.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, analytics, operations, and business leaders to support data-driven decision-making.

Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, Statistics, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, analytics, or enterprise reporting.
• Strong experience managing and working in an Azure Fabric enterprise data warehouse environment.
• Advanced technical and managerial experience in the following areas:
• Power BI, including dashboard development, reporting, data modeling, and visualization best practices
  • Azure SQL Database
  • Fabric Data Warehouse
• Practical experience using the following tools and technologies:
  • Azure Entra ID
  • Azure DevOps, including repos, pipelines, CI/CD
  • Microsoft Teams
• Strong knowledge of the following:
  • T-SQL
  • Data integration and ETL/ELT processes
  • Data warehouse schema design (e.g., fact and dimension tables, etc.)
  • Database performance tuning
• Experience working with teams that develop predictive analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions.
• Familiarity with data governance and reporting standards.

• Demonstrated ability to lead multiple concurrent projects, manage priorities, and work across technical and business teams to produce deliverables.
• Strong client relationship, presentation, and communication skills.
• Proactive when communicating in a virtual work environment, seeks to understand and clarify, productive when working remotely.
• A person who is dependable, pragmatic, and capable of balancing speed, quality, and maintainability.

Location
This is a remote position, based in the U.S. Candidates hired into this role may work onsite in select Milliman office locations, if they prefer. Occasional work-related travel may be required for practice meetings, company events, industry conferences, etc.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $117,500 - $222,985. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.

For candidates residing in:

• Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the range is $135,125 - $222,985.

• For all other U.S. locations, the range is $117,500 - $193,900.
