Overview & Responsibilities
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for data discovery from various data sources and understand and learn the business context of all the data attributes pertaining to the several domains across the organization. This role will define the data structure, create data dictionaries, define attributes, explore and document data lineage, provide algorithms for mastering data, so as to enable quality reporting and analytics. Is a reference and technical authority within the Analytics team. May have responsibility to provide day-to-day supervision (administrative and technical), mentorship. Oversees the work of other analysts as part of a team focused on large scale solutions.
BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business, Mathematics Computer Science or Engineering

Master's degree in Data Analytics, Mathematics, or Computer Science strongly preferred.

10+ years of prior experience as a Data Analyst.

Expert business acumen, process flow and ability to translate business processes into technical requirements

Strong expertise in SQL, Excel, source to target mapping, and data pipelines

Performs data modeling

Build data pipelines as needed using ETL software (Fivetran, Informatica, etc.)

Expertise in Master Data Management concepts

Expert knowledge of data governance principles

Experience building effective dashboards using data visualization software (i.e. Tableau)

Deep understanding of operational processes in defined area of work area and their data sets which have impact on the organization.

Deep knowledge of Elliott data streams across all departmental systems (Sales, Finance, Production Control, Design, Project Engineering, Procurement, QA, etc.).

This position’s main activities are discovering, collecting, organizing and structuring the data.

Leads largest, most complex projects spanning across multiple product lines.

Provides supervision (administrative and technical) to other analysts and guides them to achieve outcomes.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES
Discover data across the various applications, databases and spreadsheets. Catalog and provide governed data definitions. Document lineage of the data. Communicate findings during the data discovery. Map common attributes across various sources of data. Profile the data for quality and provide solutions for improving the quality of the data. Well versed with Master Data Management and define algorithms for mastering data. Write SQL queries, to profile that data and identify the right source for all the domains of data. Provide clarification about data attributes to the business and other members of the Data Analytics team. Define processes needed for data collection and maintenance, with focus on data quality. Provide reports on data quality and its improvements. Plans and supervises the work of Analysts executing data analysis to accomplish specific projects. Acts as a technical resource to resolve complex issues. Manage the largest and most complex projects. Applies planning and organization skills to large scale projects, with primary responsibility for successful completion. Deep knowledge of systems across the enterprise to enable data extraction and analysis. Be ready to work in a fast-paced environment.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS
This position requires regular interaction with internal business users from all departments including Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Finance across all of the global locations of the organization. It will also work closely with the Visualization engineer, Data engineer and Data scientist to remove ambiguity related to the data attributes. Requires sophisticated skills to understand, influence, drive, and negotiate with internal and external customers. Effectively presents and explains process/product performance to multiple internal audiences. Leads others through application of technical expertise and project management skills.
SUPERVISION
Provides supervision (administrative and technical) to other analysts and guides them to achieve outcomes as an individual contributor not responsible for performance reviews, salary decisions and hiring and disciplinary decisions.
