Great American Financial Institution Services specializes in providing risk management and product enhancement programs to vehicle lenders and lessors, commercial equipment lenders, auto dealers and mortgage lenders throughout the U.S. and Canada. Target clients include commercial banks, credit unions, finance companies, buy-here pay-here dealers and leasing and rental concerns.

The Division insures all forms of collateral securing mortgages, retail installment contracts and loans. This includes but is not limited to residential and commercial real property, commercial vehicles, commercial contents and equipment, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, watercraft and aircraft.

The Financial Institution Services division is currently seeking a Senior Data Analyst to work in our Cincinnati, OH headquarters. This position will act on a hybrid schedule.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Prepares basic to moderately complex financial and business-related analysis and reporting. Defines business and legal reporting requirements through research, interpretation of regulations, and business unit requests to meet customer needs.
  • Captures, develops, and documents data definitions, business rules, and data quality requirements.
  • Collects and analyzes data for validity and accuracy in preparation of assigned reports and maintaining department databases.
  • Identifies and makes recommendations for resolution of identified issues in data and reporting quality.
  • Utilizes department/company software to prepare moderately complex data queries.
  • Collects business intelligence data to inform business and product decisions.
  • Ensures compliance with deliverable reporting requirements by performing quality data audits and analysis.
  • Maintains working knowledge of industry products/coverages and applies that knowledge to support business activity.
  • Maintains working knowledge of relevant resource materials and manuals that may include: statistical manuals, statistical plans, coding guides, claims, underwriting, and premium audit files.
  • May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Preferred technical skills: Python, SQL, Tableau, & Excel.
  • Experience with Data Visualization preferred.
  • Must be willing to learn new skills and have an interest in coding.
  • Technical creativity
  • Ability to work independently preferred.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Field of Study: Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or related discipline.

Experience: Generally, 2 to 4 years of related experience. Develops knowledge in relational database tools (i.e., SQL, Cognos, etc.).

Previous experience in the insurance industry preferred.

Progression toward certification in area of expertise preferred; appropriate certifications could include an Associate Insurance Data Manager (AIDM), or a Certified Insurance Data Manager (CIDM), or a Certificate in General Insurance (INS).
