Senior Data Analyst - Global PMS (Alajuela, Costa Rica)

Reporting directly into the Director for Post-Market Surveillance (PMS), the Senior Data Analyst – Global PMS will be a passionate innovator and data enthusiast who blends data science technologies with a customer focused mindset to develop and maintain PMS data systems in order to analyze and communicate global PMS data across the internal organizations globally.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data science, and a proven track record in creating solutions to drive efficient and enhanced data analytics processes. This role involves evolving our data analytics approach by leveraging programming skills to build and refine internal tools (e.g. PowerBI) that support this evolution.

This position is a P3 level.

What will you be doing?

• Responsible for the development and maintenance of the PMS data systems and data sources utilized by the Global PMS team utilizing programming skills to create data analytics and reporting tools.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain comprehensive reporting systems, utilizing programming languages and tools like Python, R, and PowerBI.
• Working alongside PMS Specialists in the analysis of global PMS data used for post-market reports (PMS Reports, PSURs, Summary Reports, etc.), including preparation of data, tables and graphs.
• Create, establish, and disseminate performance metrics to track formal quality objectives and internal Global PMS goals.
• Analyze, interpret, and disseminate PMS data as requested by internal stakeholders such as Design Quality and Risk Management teams as well as other internal organizations such as internal Clinical and Medical Safety teams.
• Support internal and external audits/inspections with PMS data needs
• Supports requests for PMS data from Regulatory Authorities and Notified Bodies.
• Support PMS data management system software changes
• Initiate, lead, implement, refine and support data management and data analysis improvement initiatives to continuously improve and innovate the process of monitoring and communicating the safety and efficacy of Smith & Nephew's products in the post-market phase with a focus on developing and deploying tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Serving as a key point of contact with internal IT & Master Data Management teams 

What will you need to be successful?

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: University degree in a related field (e.g., data science, computer science, engineering).
• Experience: 5 or more years in data analytics, data science or related experience. Strong programming skills with experience in creating and deploying data analysis and reporting solutions (PowerBI, IBM Cognos, Tableau). 3 years of experience within a regulated industry, preferrable medical device technology and interaction with Quality Management, complaint handling or post-market surveillance processes, or equivalent.
• Knowledge: Good understanding of data science.
• Proficiency in business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau
• Proficiency in the programming language Python and/or R
• Quality and Regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GMP, 21 CFR 820, and ISO 13485:2016) or quality assurance principles and practices from a regulated industry
• Microsoft Office Suite; in particular, advanced knowledge of Excel (macro scripts, pivot tables, Power Query).
• Solid understanding of statistical techniques, analysis and storage of data.
• Languages: Advanced English level.

• Knowledge: Exposure to eQMS software (TrackWise, Veeva Vault, IQVIA SmartSolve).
• Exposure to ETL.
• Competence: Able to handle multiple projects, meeting key deadlines with minimal direction.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Self-motivated and organized.
• Able to work with different cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of a situation or data requires evaluation of various factors.
