Senior Data Analyst, Credit Risk

With a broad remit across credit risk strategy and decisioning, forecasting, portfolio analytics and controls monitoring, our Risk Management & Data Science team is a key strategic interface between the business and a varied range of internal and external stakeholders.
Working with world class platforms and given the freedom to experiment and uplift your analytical and modelling capabilities, you’ll be a part of a flat structure and a close knit team responsible for improving the commercials related to arrears and repayments.
As a Senior Data Analyst in Credit Risk Management, you’ll take end to end ownership of Zip’s Expected Credit Loss and loss forecasting processes. You’ll connect portfolio performance with ECL, losses and forward looking forecasts, while continually improving the quality, automation and explainability of our approach.
This is an opportunity to combine deep analytical thinking with meaningful stakeholder influence, partnering closely with Credit Risk, Finance and Data to turn complex movements into clear insights and recommendations.
What you’ll own
- Own the monthly ECL operating cycle and loss forecasting process, delivering accurate, timely and explainable outcomes
- Lead quarterly ECL parameter monitoring, investigating material movements and connecting changes in portfolio performance with expected loss outcomes
- Continuously improve the ECL production code base, automation, controls, repeatability and turnaround times
- Strengthen data governance and controls, identifying data quality issues early and partnering with our Data team to resolve them
- Lead regular ECL discussions with senior Credit Risk and Finance stakeholders, translating complex analysis into clear insights, decisions and actions
- Own the methodology, assumptions, scenario analysis and variance analysis underpinning loss forecasts, continually looking for opportunities to improve forecast accuracy
- Lead the annual ECL review, including methodology and performance assessments, back testing, documentation and support for internal and external audit activity
- Explore how AI and new technology can make our forecasting and analytical processes faster, smarter and more effective
- Provide analytical support for bad debt sale initiatives and other emerging Credit Risk priorities

- Experience in credit risk analytics within retail banking, consumer finance or another regulated financial services environment
- Strong experience in credit loss forecasting or portfolio loss analytics, with the ability to connect portfolio performance, delinquency and write offs with expected loss outcomes
- Practical experience with ECL, including PD, LGD and EAD, impairment processes and credit risk parameter monitoring
- Strong SQL skills and experience maintaining analytical code, with exposure to Python, R or SAS highly regarded
- A disciplined approach to data quality, testing, controls, documentation and production change management
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to explain analytical outcomes, challenge assumptions and lead discussions with senior stakeholders
- The ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations that support effective decision making
- A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
