Who we’re looking for:

We are seeking a technically strong Senior Cybersecurity Engineer / Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a potential opportunity with broad cybersecurity engineering experience and the ability to translate policy and architecture requirements into actionable technical solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong implementation experience, excellent documentation habits and the ability to guide teams through technical problem solving and security improvements. The Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer / SME role serves as a technical authority on control execution, drafting operational work instructions, designing resilient backup and continuity solutions and operationalizing emerging defensive capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to shape the growth, development and culture of an exciting and fast-growing company in the cybersecurity market. Employment for this position is dependent on the successful award of the contract.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Draft, refine and maintain detailed technical work instructions, standard operating procedures and implementation guidance for security controls and system configurations.
  • Recommend, implement and tune technical protections such as logging, access controls, encryption and related defensive capabilities while balancing cost, complexity and risk reduction.
  • Design, implement and support technical solutions for disaster recovery exercises, mission continuity efforts and Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning.
  • Lead research, technical testing and evaluation of new or emerging security technologies to determine feasibility and operational adoption strategies.
  • Conduct and oversee authorized defensive security exercises, control effectiveness evaluations and technical security assessments.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to support incident response, control validation, remediation planning and closing capability or data coverage gaps.

What you need to know:

  • Strong experience in cybersecurity engineering, security architecture translation and hands on implementation of technical controls.
  • Deep familiarity with federal technical security requirements, control frameworks and operational cybersecurity environments.
  • Proven ability to create high quality technical documentation, work instructions and implementation procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and systems thinking skills with experience solving complex technical issues.
  • Ability to mentor technical staff, guide cross functional teams and provide expert recommendations to leadership.

Must have’s:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; a postgraduate degree from an accredited university may substitute for 6 years of experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex requirements and translate them into clear, actionable tasks and processes through critical thinking.
  • Applicants must currently be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance, in compliance with federal contract requirements.

Beneficial to have:

  • Active DOE Q or equivalent DoD Top Secret clearance.
