We invite you to apply today!

We are looking for: An onsite Senior Cyber Range Engineer who will architect, deploy, and maintain cloud-based cyber ranges and training environments. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, realistic training infrastructures that emulate enterprise environments across multiple cloud platforms. Working alongside security researchers and training specialists, you'll create the technical foundation that enables high-fidelity security simulations and exercises. As a Senior Cyber Range Engineer, you will ensure our ranges provide authentic cloud experiences while maintaining isolation, monitoring capabilities, and resource efficiency.

What will you be doing as a Senior Cyber Range Engineer?

  • Design, implement and maintain local and cloud-based cyber range enterprise architectures that are adversary-realistic to support multiple concurrent training scenarios and user sessions

  • Validate ranges behave realistically under attacker and defender activity

  • Develop automation frameworks for rapid deployment, teardown, and reset of range environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles

  • Serve as a technical escalation point for complex range failures; perform root-cause analysis and correlate failures across network, compute, storage, identity, and orchestration layers

  • Own performance repeatability and reliability of range environments at scale

  • Create emulated cloud services and resources when direct cloud integration isn't feasible or cost-effective

  • Maintain security controls and network isolation to prevent range escape or resource abuse

  • Collaborate with content developers to translate training requirements into technical specifications

  • Be an expert on SimSpace software providing guidance and documentation for many different use cases

  • Develop and maintain documentation for range architectures, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting guides

  • Deliver customized knowledge transfer sessions to customer and partner personnel, including platform training curriculum

  • Support onsite work for the customer; this is not a remote position and does not offer flexible hours

  • Occasional travel to other customer or partner locations (estimated 10%) may be required in the future

What You Will Bring:

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience, typically supported by a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field; an Associate’s degree or industry certifications with equivalent experience; or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience. Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, and experience will be considered.

  • Current security clearance with eligibility for access to TS/SCI

  • Expertise and knowledge in advanced networking including:

    • Virtual networking architecture and segmentation (VPCs, VNets, subnets, routing)

    • Network security and access control (firewalls, security groups, NACLs)

    • Secure connectivity solutions (VPN and direct connectivity solutions)

    • Network engineering certification a plus

  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and virtual machine deployment at scale

  • Expertise with virtualization platforms and technologies (VMware, NetApp)

  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, including Puppet, Ansible, and Terraform

  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as bash, python, and powershell

  • Knowledge of cloud cost management and resource optimization techniques

  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions

  • Familiarity with enterprise IT architectures and common business applications

  • Knowledge of security concepts and best practices for isolated environments

  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience with air-gapped environments

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex infrastructure issues

  • Exemplary documentation and technical communication abilities

  • Strong customer interaction skills
