Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.
The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.
Wells Fargo Bank N.A. seeks a Senior Credit Risk Specialist in Wilmington, DE.
Job Role and Responsibility: Lead complex credit risk initiatives related to credit card originations and credit line assignment strategies, including the identification and implementation of risk mitigation actions. Analyze large-scale consumer lending data to monitor credit performance trends, detect emerging risks, and identify opportunities to improve portfolio outcomes. Perform root cause analysis on credit performance metrics and recommend data-driven strategies to optimize line assignment and portfolio profitability. Develop and evaluate credit risk strategies using statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and segmentation techniques. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including risk, finance, product, and technology to design and implement credit decision strategies within a matrixed organizational structure. Assess business, operational, and technical processes to identify inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and recommend appropriate solutions. Communicate analytical results, risk insights, and strategic recommendations to senior management and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. Support the design, validation, and monitoring of credit decision engines for originations and line strategies. Evaluate key drivers of profitability, including acquisition, utilization, and loss metrics, to ensure alignment with risk appetite and financial objectives. Utilize programming languages and data tools to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to support credit risk strategy development. Prepare and maintain management information system (MIS) reports to monitor credit risk performance, ensure data accuracy, and support governance processes through standardized reporting, documentation, and adherence to established controls and regulatory requirements. Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days a week. Position must appear in person to the location listed as the work address.

Required Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field plus 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a related position involving risk analytics experience.
Will alternatively accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related position involving risk analytics experience.
Specific skills required:
• Experience using Python, SAS, or SQL to analyze large datasets and develop risk strategies;
• Experience performing statistical analysis and applying predictive modeling or machine learning techniques in a business context;
• Experience in credit card or unsecured lending, including originations or account management strategies;
• Experience with credit risk management concepts, including underwriting, loss forecasting, and portfolio monitoring;
• Experience with profitability drivers (P&L) for consumer lending products, including revenue, loss, and utilization metrics;
• Experience working with databases and data mining techniques; and
• Experience translating complex quantitative analyses into actionable business insights.
