Join Nationwide as a Senior Credit Card Product Manager - Acquisition and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of one of the UK's most ambitious credit card businesses. As part of our high-performing Credit Card team, you'll help drive transformational growth across both Nationwide and Virgin Money, influencing how we attract new customers, engage existing members and develop compelling credit card propositions. This is a unique opportunity to make a visible impact at scale, with exposure to senior leaders and the chance to help shape the future direction of our combined business following the acquisition of Virgin Money.

 

Working closely with external partners, including aggregators, and internal teams across the business, you'll drive acquisition performance, optimise customer journeys and deliver strong commercial results while balancing customer outcomes and risk. You'll bring deep knowledge of the UK credit card market, proven experience in credit card products and unsecured lending, and a strong track record of stakeholder management, proposition development and leading people to success.

 

This is a 24-month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.

For this job you'll be located at our nearest regional office or hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration and in some locations you’ll be expected to spend at least two days a week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, in the office. What you’ll be doing

 

Banking & Savings sits at the heart of Nationwide, and our Credit Card team is driving transformational growth with bold ambitions, innovative thinking and a sharp focus on delivering exceptional value for customers. Following the acquisition of Virgin Money, we're entering an exciting new phase of growth and opportunity, creating a unique chance to help shape the future of our credit card business and play a key role in delivering against ambitious sales plans.

 

You'll lead acquisition activity across both Nationwide and Virgin Money, driving commercial performance through open market and member channels while enhancing customer journeys and developing compelling credit card propositions. Working closely with partners, aggregators and colleagues across Risk, Finance and Marketing, you'll use data, market insight and customer understanding to optimise conversion, identify growth opportunities and deliver sustainable business results. As the integration of Nationwide and Virgin Money progresses, you'll have significant exposure to senior leaders, giving you the opportunity to influence strategy and help unlock the full potential of two leading brands coming together.

About you

 

As a minimum you will have:

 

  • Proven experience in credit card acquisition, portfolio management, proposition development or commercial trading, with a strong track record of delivering growth and commercial results within the UK credit card market

  • Strong commercial acumen, including credit card channel & pricing strategy, product economics, Profit & Loss management and performance optimisation, with the ability to balance growth, risk and customer outcomes

  • Highly analytical, with the ability to translate complex data, market trends and customer insights into clear strategic recommendations and measurable actions that drive performance

  • Demonstrable experience influencing and challenging senior stakeholders, presenting commercial proposals and contributing to strategic decision-making at leadership level

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively across a large, complex organisation, bringing together diverse stakeholders to deliver shared objectives and drive successful outcomes

  • Strong understanding of customer acquisition journeys, conversion optimisation, proposition performance and customer outcomes, with experience identifying and implementing improvements that deliver measurable results

  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead through change, manage competing priorities and drive delivery in a fast-paced, regulated environment
