The Role
About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a highly capable Lead Technology Business Systems Consultant to join its China Technology team based in Shanghai. This role acts as the primary liaison between business and technology, overseeing projects spanning infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity domains. The consultant is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of technology initiatives by aligning business needs and regulatory requirements with scalable and compliant solutions. A critical aspect of this position is the ability to balance effective project execution with pragmatic oversight, coordinating local regulatory mandates, enterprise technology standards, and global delivery models. The role requires close collaboration with regional technology teams and reports directly to the APAC Regional Head of Technology.
In this role, you will:
  • Serve as the key technology advisor for local business units, evaluating moderately complex business challenges, conducting in-depth needs analysis, and developing actionable initiatives and plans.
  • Co-develop technology proposals that translate evolving China regulatory mandates and the local technology requirements into solutions that reconcile global standards with local constraints, such as China's regulatory environment and data protection requirements.
  • Identify solutions that effectively balance business objectives and cost-efficiency.
  • Provide clear, structured advice to inform and influence enterprise project decision-making.
  • Gather and analyze market intelligence related to solution adaptation, and present recommendations to business stakeholders and management.
  • Drive the implementation of local projects, managing technology vendors to ensure quality execution and risk management.
  • Ensure that project execution complies with cybersecurity policies and China's regulatory requirements, and lead remediation activities for identified vulnerabilities and control gaps.
  • Support the preparation of technology reports, presentations, and materials required for local regulatory submissions.
  • Champion continuous optimization of business-as-usual (BAU) processes following project delivery.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Business Systems Data and Business Systems Designing experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Proficiency in bilingual communication (English and Mandarin), with strong stakeholder management skills and proven experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders and businesses across the Asia Pacific region.
  • Experience in maintaining enterprise application systems and infrastructure, with a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity frameworks relevant to China's regulatory environment, particularly for financial institutions.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience or deep understanding of banking systems, including core system flows, regulatory reporting, and hybrid architectures, especially those with restricted standalone components.
  • Strong aptitude for collaborative work and agile project execution.
Desired Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Banking Business Systems Data, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, training, or education.
  • Proven experience in successfully delivering technology infrastructure and business application projects.
  • Experience working with hybrid technology stacks across Wintel, Linux, Networks, and Cybersecurity.
  • Sensitivity to data, with exposure to regulatory reporting platforms, data processing and ETL workflows, and migration initiatives.
  • Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools, including the Microsoft Office Suite, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Experience with ITIL processes and approaches for managing third-party code change management.

  • Show a strong aptitude for learning and adapting to innovative technologies, including those involving AI-based skills.
