The Role
About this role:
The Wells Fargo Legal Department is seeking a Senior Counsel to join the legal team supporting the Supply Chain Finance businesses within Commercial Banking. This role will provide legal counsel on all aspects of relevant lending and factoring products (which may include inventory financing, accounts receivable purchases, reverse factoring, asset-based lending and related participations) and the legal research related to those lending and factoring products globally. The position will report to the Managing Counsel of the Supply Chain Finance Legal Team, part of the Legal Department's Commercial Banking Division.

In this role, you will:
  • Advise on a wide range of factoring and commercial finance issues
  • Develop, coordinate and manage legal research relating to cross-border international business issues for the business to offer products and services in the global marketplace
  • Lead or participate in moderately complex initiatives and deliverables and contribute to large-scale planning
  • Handle matters that have significant impact on the Supply Chain Finance business operations, strategies, and profitability
  • Provide guidance to internal clients on legal matters to assist with legal risk assessment, planning and policy decisions, claims against the Company, probability of loss, and develop cost-effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Draft complex legal documents, review and negotiate documents prepared by outside counsel
  • Independently resolve moderately complex issues and lead team to meet deliverables
  • Identify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions, and make recommendations for issue resolution
  • Collaborate with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a mentor for less experienced staff
  • Work directly with business clients and develop an in-depth understanding of business unit activities and products
  • Partner with business leaders, risk, control and compliance peers, as well as colleagues within the team and across the Legal Department to develop and implement risk management programs
Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience as a practicing attorney handling secured lending and cross- border commercial transactions, and working with law firms to research applicable jurisdictional laws
  • Experience handling inventory (floorplan) financing and working capital transactions
  • Experience with the Uniform Commercial Code, True Sale purchases and Bankruptcy, workout and restructuring legal concepts
  • Ability to analyze legal and regulatory issues impacting these products and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders and constituencies, including business leaders, legal, and audit
Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
Salary is just one component of Wells Fargo's total rewards package. Depending on the role, a Wells Fargo's employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
$139,000.00 - $239,000.00
