Role Overview
Astera Labs is seeking a driven, collaborative, and solutions-oriented Senior Counsel, Commercial to join our growing Legal team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted legal partner to our business teams, thoughtfully managing risk in a fast-moving, public-company environment.

Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer agreements, vendor contracts, strategic partnerships, and technology licensing agreements.
Collaborate closely with sales, procurement, finance, and business operations to structure deals that protect the company while enabling commercial success.
Develop and refine contract playbooks, templates, and department infrastructure and tools that scale with the business.
Take ownership of legal process improvements and help define how commercial legal work gets done, including the use of AI tools.
Train and empower internal stakeholders on contract processes, risk awareness, and self-service tools.
Support strategic initiatives across the business, including real estate transactions, M&A diligence, contract management system enhancements, and emerging legal needs as they arise.
Basic Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (California preferred).
8+ years of relevant legal experience, with a strong foundation in commercial transactions gained at a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
Strong collaborator with the ability to build relationships across the organization.
Pragmatic, with sound judgment that balances legal risk against business opportunity.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for business partners at all levels.
Team player, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in semiconductor, hardware, and AI/cloud infrastructure is a plus.
Base salary range is $200,000 to $260,000 depending on experience, level, and business need. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonus, incentives and benefits.
